Be joyful at your festival— you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites, the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns.

Be filled with joy at your feast. You, your children, and your male and female servants should be joyful. So should the Levites, the outsiders, and the widows living in your towns. And so should the children whose fathers have died.

You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns.

This festival will be a happy time of celebrating with your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows from your towns.

Rejoice during your festival— you, your son and daughter, your male and female slave, as well as the Levite, the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow within your city gates.

省長尼希米和祭司兼經學家以斯拉，以及教導人民明白律法的利未人對眾民說：“今天是耶和華你們的神的聖日，你們不要悲哀哭泣。”因為眾人聽見律法書上的話，都哭了。尼希米又對他們說：“你們應當去吃肥美的肉，喝甘甜的酒，把部分飲食分給沒有能力預備的人，因為今天是我們的主的聖日；你們不要憂愁，因為靠耶和華而得的喜樂是你們的力量。”於是利未人使眾民安靜下來，說：“你們安靜吧，因為今天是聖日，也不要再憂愁！”眾民就去吃喝，也把部分飲食與人分享，大大歡樂。因為他們明白教訓他們的話。

你和你的兒女、僕婢，以及在你城裡的利未人、在你們中間的寄居者、孤兒和寡婦，都要在耶和華你的神選擇作他名的居所的地方歡樂。

到那日，你必說：“耶和華啊！我要稱謝你，因為你雖曾向我發怒，你的怒氣卻已轉消，你又安慰了我。看哪！神是我的拯救；我要倚靠他，並不懼怕，因為耶和華神是我的力量，我的詩歌，他也成了我的拯救。”所以你們要快樂地從救恩的泉源打水。到那日，你們必說：“要稱謝耶和華，呼求他的名；在萬民中傳揚他的作為，使他們謹記他那至高的名。你們要唱歌讚美耶和華，因為他作了極美的事；願這事傳遍全地。錫安的居民哪，當喊叫歡呼！因為以色列的聖者在你們中間是偉大的。”

要常常喜樂，

蒙耶和華贖回的人必歸回，必歡呼地來到錫安；永遠的喜樂必臨到他們的頭上；他們必得著歡喜和快樂，憂愁和歎息都必逃跑了。

你們和你們的兒女、僕婢，以及住在你們城裡的利未人，都要在耶和華你們的神面前歡樂，因為利未人在你們中間無分無業。

萬軍之耶和華必在這山上為萬民擺設豐盛美筵，有陳酒、滿髓的肥甘和醇美好酒。他又必在這山上除滅那遮蓋萬民的面巾，和那遮蓋列國的帕子。他要吞滅死亡，直到永遠；主耶和華必擦去各人臉上的眼淚，又從地上除掉他子民的羞辱；這是耶和華說的。

你和利未人，以及住在你們中間的外族人，都要因耶和華你的神賜給你和你的家的一切好處而歡樂。

你們卻必歌唱，好像守聖節的夜間一樣；你們必心裡喜樂，好像吹著笛行走的人，必上耶和華的山，到以色列的磐石那裡。

你只管快快樂樂地去吃你的飯，懷著高興的心去喝你的酒，因為神已經悅納了你所作的。
