as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us— until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

The people of Esau, who live in Seir, allowed us to do that. The people of Moab, who live in Ar, also allowed us to do it. So let us walk through until we go across the Jordan River. Then we’ll be able to go into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

然後派遣使者去見以東王，說，『求你讓我們經過你的領土。』以東王卻不答應。他們又派遣使者去見摩押王，摩押王也不答應。於是，以色列人就住在加低斯。後來，他們走過曠野，繞過以東和摩押，到了摩押的東邊，在摩押的邊界亞嫩河東岸紮營，並沒有進入摩押境內。

以東王卻說：「你們不可從我這裡經過，否則我必兵戎相見。」

「亞捫人或摩押人及其十代以內的子孫都不可加入耶和華的會眾。因為在你們離開埃及的途中，他們沒有用水和食物款待你們，還雇用美索不達米亞的毗奪人——比珥的兒子巴蘭咒詛你們。

你們要知道，耶和華賜給你們那佳美之地不是因為你們有好品德。其實你們是頑固不化的人。

「以色列人啊，要聆聽我傳授給你們的律法，要切實遵行，以便你們可以存活，並進入你們祖先的上帝耶和華賜給你們的那片土地。

耶和華對我說，『不可騷擾摩押人，不可與他們爭戰，因為我不會把他們的土地賜給你，我已把亞珥賜給羅得的子孫為業。』

你們必須誠實無欺，使用同樣的法碼和量器，以便在你們的上帝耶和華要賜給你們的土地上得享長壽。

「你們要走遍全營，吩咐大家預備好食物。因為三天之內，你們就要過約旦河，去佔領你們的上帝耶和華賜給你們的土地。」約書亞又對呂便支派、迦得支派和瑪拿西半個支派的人說：「你們要牢記耶和華的僕人摩西吩咐你們的話，他說你們的上帝耶和華要把約旦河東面的土地賜給你們，讓你們安居。你們的妻子兒女和牲畜可以留在約旦河東岸摩西分給你們的土地上，但你們當中所有的勇士要帶著兵器先過約旦河，幫助你們的弟兄。要等到你們的上帝耶和華使你們的弟兄像你們一樣得到祂所賜的土地，安居以後，你們才可以回到約旦河東，在耶和華的僕人摩西分給你們的土地上定居。」

我今天將祂的律例和誡命傳授給你們，你們要遵守，以便你們及子孫都蒙福，在你們上帝耶和華所賜的土地上得享長壽。」

「『要遵照你的上帝耶和華的吩咐孝敬父母，以便在你的上帝耶和華要賜給你的土地上享長壽，蒙祝福。

因你們的緣故，耶和華向我發怒，起誓不讓我過約旦河、進入祂賜給你們作產業的那片佳美之地。
