但是這些民族的城鎮，就是耶和華－你上帝所賜給你的產業，其中凡有氣息的，一個都不可存留。你要照耶和華－你上帝所吩咐的，將這些赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人全都滅絕，免得他們教導你們去行一切可憎惡的事，就是他們向自己神明所行的，使你們得罪耶和華－你們的上帝。

從那些城鎮所奪的財物和牲畜，以色列人都取為自己的掠物。至於所有的人，他們都用刀殺了，直到滅盡；凡有氣息的，沒有留下一個。

「但一切永獻作當滅的，就是人從他所有永獻給耶和華作當滅的，無論是人，是牲畜，是他繼承的田地，都不可賣，也不可贖。凡永獻作當滅的都歸耶和華為至聖。凡從人中永獻作當滅的都不可贖，必被處死。

生擒了亞瑪力王亞甲，用刀殺盡亞瑪力的眾百姓。掃羅和百姓卻憐惜亞甲，愛惜上好的牛、羊、牛犢、羔羊，以及一切美物，不肯滅絕。但是凡看不上眼和沒有價值的，他們盡都殺了。
