If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons but the firstborn is the son of the wife he does not love,

Suppose a man has two wives. He loves one but not the other. And both of them have sons by him. But the oldest son is the son of the wife the man doesn’t love.

Whenever Elkanah offered a sacrifice, he always gave portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to each of her sons and daughters.But he gave a double portion to Hannah, for he loved her even though the Lord had kept her from conceiving.

Jacob loved Rachel, so he answered Laban,“ I’ll work for you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”

Jacob slept with Rachel also, and indeed, he loved Rachel more than Leah. And he worked for Laban another seven years.When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was unable to conceive.

So Jacob worked seven years for Rachel, and they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.
