主悅爾、選擇爾、非為爾較諸國之民、人數眾多、爾原較諸民、人數維寡、乃因主眷愛爾、又因主欲踐向爾列祖所發之誓、故施展大能導爾出、贖爾於為奴之地、救爾於伊及王法老之手、

然則何言、天主祐我、誰能敵我、

今我所受暫而且微之苦、為我備至大無比之永榮、

惟天主之矜恤甚宏、以大愛愛我儕、當我儕陷於罪愆若死之時、乃使我儕同基督復活、爾曹以恩得救矣、

以福音論之、彼則為敵、為爾曹也、以選擇論之、彼則見愛、為列祖也、

主以言授於巴蘭口、諭之曰、爾返見巴勒、當如是言、巴蘭返、見巴勒與摩押眾臣、皆立於所獻火焚祭之側、乃作歌曰、巴勒導我自亞蘭、摩押王召我出東山、曰、來、為我咒雅各、為我詛以色列、天主所不咒、我何能咒、耶和華所不詛、我何能詛、我視之自山巔、觀之由高峰、此民獨處、不列於萬族中、雅各族多如塵沙、孰能計之、以色列四分之一、誰能數之、我願如善人之死而死、我願如善人之終而終、巴勒謂巴蘭曰、爾向我如此行何耶、我召爾咒詛我敵、爾反為之祝福、對曰、主授於我口之言、我豈能不謹述之乎、

蹲如牡獅、臥如牝獅、孰敢攖之、祝爾者必見祝、詛爾者必被詛、

民曰、古昔之時、主顯現於我、或作主自遠方顯現於我曰、我永遠愛爾、故我施爾以恩、

無故之詛言無驗、如燕雀飛過而不見、或作無故之詛言應於本身如燕雀飛回故巢

天主固然恩待以色列人、恩待心潔之人、

主之使者語巴蘭曰、爾姑與斯人偕往、惟我所諭爾之言、爾方可言、於是巴蘭與巴勒使臣偕往、

天主臨格巴蘭、以言授於其口、諭之曰、爾返見巴勒、以此言告之、巴蘭返、見巴勒立於所獻火焚祭之側、摩押眾臣在其左右、巴勒問巴蘭曰、主有何言、巴蘭作歌曰、巴勒可起以聽、西撥子傾聆我言、天主非人、萬不食言、非亞當之子、決不後悔、其言豈有不成、其許豈有不應、我奉命祝福、天主亦必賜福、我不能反之、未見雅各有愆尤、未見以色列有罪戾、其天主耶和華偕之、其中有王、因歡聲而呼、天主導之出伊及、使之力強、使之力強或作使之捷行下同可比野牛、欲攻雅各、法術無益、欲攻以色列、卜筮不利、當此時論雅各及以色列、可云天主所行之事、何其大歟、或作天主所行傳於雅各傳於以色列斯民興如牝獅、躍如牡獅、未食被噬之物、未飲被傷者之血、則不偃臥、巴勒謂巴蘭曰、爾毋詛之、亦毋祝之、巴蘭答曰、凡主所諭我必遵行、其言我豈未告爾乎、

主亦眷愛諸民、眾聖歸主掌握、彼坐於主前、敬承主言、

我民歟、當追念摩押王巴勒所設之謀、與比珥子巴蘭所對之之言、亦當追念自示亭至吉甲所遇之事、則可知主之恩慈、○

主天主曰、我從爾旁經過以觀爾、見爾已長、可以于歸、遂以衣裾覆爾、遮爾赤體、向爾發誓、與爾結盟、俾爾歸於我、

如經載云、我愛雅各而惡以掃、○

主曰、我愛爾、爾曰、主於何處愛我、主於何處愛我或作主以何愛我又作主愛我以何為徵主曰、以掃非雅各之兄乎、我愛雅各、
