When thou goest forth in camp against thine enemies, then thou shalt keep thee from every evil thing.

When you are encamped against your enemies, keep away from everything impure.

There will be times when you are at war with your enemies. And your soldiers will be in camp. Then keep away from anything that isn’t pure and“ clean.”

“ When you are encamped against your enemies, then you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.

“ When you go to war against your enemies, be sure to stay away from anything that is impure.

“ When you are encamped against your enemies, be careful to avoid anything offensive.

“ When you go out as an army against your enemies, you shall be on guard against every evil thing.

“ When the army goes out against your enemies, then keep yourself from every wicked thing.

“ When you are encamped against your enemies, be careful to avoid anything offensive.

When the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.

When you go out as an army against your enemies, guard yourselves against anything impure.

When you go out and camp against your enemies, then you shall keep yourselves from every evil thing.

But as for you, only keep yourselves from the devoted thing, lest when ye have devoted it, ye take of the devoted thing; so would ye make the camp of Israel accursed, and trouble it.

Israel hath sinned; yea, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: yea, they have even taken of the devoted thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also; and they have even put it among their own stuff.Therefore the children of Israel cannot stand before their enemies; they turn their backs before their enemies, because they are become accursed: I will not be with you any more, except ye destroy the devoted thing from among you.Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, There is a devoted thing in the midst of thee, O Israel; thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the devoted thing from among you.

And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah; and he wrought that which was good and right and faithful before Jehovah his God.And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.After these things, and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fortified cities, and thought to win them for himself.And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which were without the city; and they helped him.So there was gathered much people together, and they stopped all the fountains, and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?And he took courage, and built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, and the other wall without, and strengthened Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the broad place at the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,Be strong and of good courage, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him; for there is a greater with us than with him:with him is an arm of flesh; but with us is Jehovah our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem( now he was before Lachish, and all his power with him), unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that were at Jerusalem, saying,Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide the siege in Jerusalem?Doth not Hezekiah persuade you, to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, Jehovah our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and upon it shall ye burn incense?Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands in any wise able to deliver their land out of my hand?Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you after this manner, neither believe ye him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of my hand?And his servants spake yet more against Jehovah God, and against his servant Hezekiah.He wrote also letters, to rail on Jehovah, the God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of my hand.And they cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language unto the people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.And they spake of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.And Hezekiah the king, and Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.And Jehovah sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth from his own bowels slew him there with the sword.Thus Jehovah saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.

And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again among the people from Beer- sheba to the hill- country of Ephraim, and brought them back unto Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up, and came unto Beth- el, and wept, and sat there before Jehovah, and fasted that day until even; and they offered burnt- offerings and peace- offerings before Jehovah.

And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse any one wrongfully; and be content with your wages.

And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and he that sat thereon called Faithful and True; and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.And his eyes are a flame of fire, and upon his head are many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one knoweth but he himself.And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God.And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure.

And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek unto Jehovah; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.And Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help of Jehovah: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek Jehovah.And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Jehovah, before the new court;and he said, O Jehovah, the God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and art not thou ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? and in thy hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee.Didst not thou, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,If evil come upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house, and before thee( for thy name is in this house), and cry unto thee in our affliction, and thou wilt hear and save.And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.And all Judah stood before Jehovah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
