Build an altar of stones there to the Lord your God— you must not use any iron tool on them.

Build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool on them.

Build an altar there to honor the Lord your God. Make it out of stones. Don’t use any iron tool on them.

And there you shall build an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones. You shall wield no iron tool on them;

“ Then build an altar there to the Lord your God, using natural, uncut stones. You must not shape the stones with an iron tool.

If you make a stone altar for Me, you must not build it out of cut stones. If you use your chisel on it, you will defile it.

Elijah took 12 stones— according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying,“ Israel will be your name”—and he built an altar with the stones in the name of Yahweh. Then he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold about four gallons.

And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He rose early the next morning and set up an altar and 12 pillars for the 12 tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain.

At that time Joshua built an altar on Mount Ebal to the Lord, the God of Israel,just as Moses the Lord’s servant had commanded the Israelites. He built it according to what is written in the book of the law of Moses: an altar of uncut stones on which no iron tool has been used. Then they offered burnt offerings to the Lord and sacrificed fellowship offerings on it.
