Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.

Don’t add to what I’m commanding you. Don’t subtract from it either. Instead, obey the commands of the Lord your God that I’m giving you.

You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.

『凡我所吩咐你們的一切話、你們都要謹慎遵行；不可加添，也不可減少。

他的話你不可加添；恐怕他指責你，你就顯得是撒謊人了。

我警告一切聽這書上神言傳講之話的人：『若有人在這些話上加添甚麼，上帝必將所記在這書上的災殃加在他身上。若有人從這神言傳講之書的話上除掉甚麼，上帝必從所記在這書上的生命樹和聖城、除掉他的分兒。』

你只要剛強，大大壯膽，謹慎遵行我僕人摩西所吩咐你的一切律法，不可偏於右、或偏於左，好使你無論往哪裏去都得亨通。

弟兄們，我且照人事說吧；凡已立定的約，雖只是人的約，也沒有人能廢棄或增訂的。

我實在告訴你們，即使天地都過去了，一點或一鈎也決不能從律法書上過去；一切必須實現的、總必實現。

言論的終結：一切都聽見了。上帝你要敬畏；他的誡命你要遵守：這就是人的一切。

『你的門徒為甚麼違犯古人的傳統規矩？喫飯時候不洗手呀！』耶穌回答他們說：『你們呢、你們為甚麼因了你們的傳統規矩而違犯上帝的誡命呢？上帝命令說：「要孝敬父親和母親」；又說：『誹謗父親或母親的，必須死』；你們倒說：『無論何人對父親或母親說：「你可由我得益之物、已經用做獻神禮物了」；這麼一說，他便可以不必敬奉父親或母親！那就是你們竟因了你們的傳統規矩而取消上帝的話了！假冒為善的人哪，以賽亞指着你們傳講神言，傳得不錯；他說：「這人民用嘴脣尊敬我，心卻遠離我；他們徒然敬拜我，將人的誡律當教條教訓人。」』

有法利賽人和幾個從耶路撒冷來的經學士聚集來見耶穌；他們曾看見他的門徒有人用俗污的手、就是沒有洗的手、喫飯。（原來法利賽人、其實所有的猶太人、都執守着前人的傳統規矩，若不仔細洗手，就不喫；從市場上來，若不洗一洗也不喫：他們所領受而執守的還有許多別的，例如杯、罐、銅器之洗濯等）。這些法利賽人和經學士就詰問耶穌說：『你的門徒為甚麼不照前人的傳統規矩行，卻用俗污的手喫飯呢？』耶穌對他們說：『以賽亞指着你們假冒為善的人傳講神言，傳得不錯；照經上所記載的說：「這人民用嘴脣尊敬我，他們的心卻遠離我：他們徒然敬拜我，將人的誡律當教條教訓人」。他們撇棄了上帝的誡命，執守着人的傳統規矩。』他又對他們說：『你們很聰明地廢棄了上帝的誡命，為要遵守自己的傳統規矩！因為摩西說過：「要孝敬你的父親和母親」；又說：「誹謗父親或母親的、必須死」；你們倒說：「人若對父親或母親說，你可由我得益之物、已經用做「各耳板」了，就是說、用做獻神的禮物了，你們就再不容他對父親或母親作甚麼孝敬的事。這就藉着你們所傳授的、你們的傳統規矩、以取消上帝的話了！你們還作了許多這樣相類的事呢。」

『你們曾聽見有話說：「要愛你的鄰舍，恨你的仇敵。」
