說：「看哪，永恆主我們的上帝將他的榮光和他的至大向我們顯現，我們又聽見他的聲音從火中發出；今日我們居然見上帝和人說話，而人還活着。

基甸看出他是永恆主的使者；就說：『哀啊！主永恆主啊，我既面對面地看見永恆主的使者，我活不了啦！』

他不伸手責罰以色列人中貴顯的人；他們儘管瞻仰上帝，又喫又喝。

但是』他說：『你不能看我的面；因為人不能看我的面還能活着。』

眾民見了雷轟、閃電、角聲和山上冒着煙；就懼怕，直發顫，遠遠地站着。對摩西說：『你對我們說話吧，我們就要聽；可別讓上帝和我們說話呀，恐怕我們死亡。』

因為永恆主你的上帝乃是燒滅人的烈火，是忌邪的上帝。『你們在那地住久了，生子養孫，若敗壞了自己、去造雕像，造任何東西的形像，行永恆主你的上帝所看為壞的事、去惹他發怒，那麼、我今日就呼天喚地來警告你們，你們必定從過約但河取得為業的地上迅速地滅亡；你們在那地必不能延年益壽，總必完全被消滅。

西奈山全都冒煙，因為永恆主在火中降臨山上；山的煙往上冒，就像燒窰的煙一般：整個的山震顫得極厲害。號角聲越來越強、強到極點，摩西就說話，上帝在雷轟中回答他。

永恆主對摩西說：『你要對以色列人這樣說：「你們自己看見我從天上和你們說話了。

永恆主把那兩塊石版交給我，是上帝用手指頭寫的；那上頭所寫的是永恆主當大眾的日子在山上從火中同你們所說的一切話。
