and were in the valley near Beth Peor east of the Jordan, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites as they came out of Egypt.

They were now east of the Jordan River in the valley near Beth Peor. They were in the land of Sihon, the king of the Amorites. He ruled in Heshbon. But Moses and the Israelites won the battle over him after we came out of Egypt.

於是我們住在伯毘珥前面的平谷中。

那時我們從約但河東邊亞摩利人兩個王手中、將亞嫩谿谷直到黑門山的地都奪取過來（

他們取得了他的地，又得了巴珊王噩的地、就是亞摩利人的兩個王、在約但河東邊、日出的方向的；

我們不和他們在約但河西邊再去之地同受產業，因為我們的產業落到我們身上、是在東面、約但河這邊。』

以色列人差遣使者去見亞摩利人的王西宏說：『求你容我們從你的地經過；我們不偏入田地和葡萄園，也不喝井裏的水；我們只走王家大道，直到過了你的地界。』西宏不讓以色列人從他的地界經過，反而聚集人民出來到曠野、要對以色列人接戰；他到了雅雜、要和以色列人交戰。以色列人用刀擊殺了他，取得他的地，從亞嫩河到雅博河，直到亞捫人那裏，亞捫人的邊界雅謝。以色列人奪取了這一切城市；以色列人也住在亞摩利人的一切城市、在希實本與希實本所有的廂鎮。這希實本是亞摩利人的王西宏的京城；西宏曾經和摩押的先王交戰，從他手中奪取了他一切的地、直到亞嫩河。因此誦歌謠的說：『你們來到希實本吧！讓它被建造吧！讓西宏的城重新被建立吧！因為有火從希實本發出，有火焰出於西宏的城廂，燒燬了摩押的亞珥，吞滅了亞嫩的山丘。摩押啊，你有禍啊！基抹的人民啊，你們滅亡啦！基抹使自己的男子成了逃難人，使自己的女子成了俘虜，交給亞摩利人的王西宏。我們射擊了他們，希實本就毁滅，直到底本；我們使那地荒涼、直到挪法、就是到米底巴。』這樣，以色列人就住在亞摩利人之地了。摩西打發人去偵探雅謝，以色列人就攻取了雅謝的廂鎮，把在那裏的亞摩利人趕走。

但是希實本王西宏不情願容我們從他那裏經過，因為永恆主你的上帝使他的靈剛愎、心意頑固，為要將他交在你手中、像今日一樣。永恆主對我說：「看哪，我已經着手將西宏和他的地交在你面前；你要着手取得他的地以為業。」那時西宏和他的眾民都出來，在雅雜戰場對我們接戰。永恆主我們的上帝將他交在我們面前，我們就把他和他的兒子們跟眾民都擊敗了。那時我們攻取了他所有的城市，將一切有男丁的城市、連女人帶小孩、都盡行毁滅歸神，連一個殘存的人也沒有留下；只留下我們所劫為己有的牲口、和我們攻取的城市中所掠得的東西。從亞嫩谿谷邊的亞羅珥、和谿谷中的城、直到基列，沒有一座城是高得使我們不能攻取的；這一切、永恆主我們的上帝都交在我們面前了。
