I also gave them my Sabbaths to serve as a sign between me and them, so that they would know that I am the LORD who consecrates them.

“ Do your work for six days but rest on the seventh day so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave as well as the resident alien may be refreshed.

Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, responded by telling the crowd,“ There are six days when work should be done; therefore come on those days and be healed and not on the Sabbath day.”But the Lord answered him and said,“ Hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you untie his ox or donkey from the feeding trough on the Sabbath and lead it to water?Satan has bound this woman, a daughter of Abraham, for eighteen years— shouldn’t she be untied from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”

For six days work is to be done, but on the seventh day you are to have a holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD. Anyone who does work on it must be executed.Do not light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath day.”
