不可與他們通婚，不可讓你們的兒女與他們的兒女通婚，

Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons,

耶和華曾告訴以色列人不可跟這些外族人通婚，免得受引誘去隨從他們的神明，所羅門卻迷戀這些女子。

「不可與當地的居民立約，免得他們與自己的神明苟合時邀請你，你就吃他們的祭物，給兒子娶他們的女兒為妻，以致她們與自己的神明苟合時誘使你的兒子犯同樣的罪。

那些天，我見猶大人娶了亞實突、亞捫和摩押的女子為妻。他們半數的子女說亞實突話或其他外族人的話，不懂得猶大話。我就斥責他們，咒詛他們，打了他們其中一些人，又扯他們的頭髮，要他們奉上帝的名起誓不再讓自己的子女與外族人通婚，自己也不娶外族女子。我說：「這豈不是以色列王所羅門所犯的罪嗎？眾國中沒有王可與他相比，他的上帝愛他，立他做全以色列的王。然而，連他也被外族女子引入罪中。我怎能聽憑你們行這大惡，因娶外族女子而背叛我們的上帝呢？」

這些事以後，眾首領來告訴我說：「以色列民眾、祭司和利未人還沒有與當地各族分開，他們仍隨從迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、亞捫人、摩押人、埃及人和亞摩利人的可憎行為。他們為自己和自己的兒子娶這些人的女兒為妻，使聖潔的民族與當地的人混雜。首領和官員是這種不忠之事的罪魁。」

如果你們悖逆，跟你們當中剩下的異族人聯合，通婚往來，毫無疑問，你們的上帝耶和華必不再為你們趕走他們。相反，他們還要成為設在你們當中的圈套和陷阱，你們的肉中刺、眼中釘，直到你們在你們的上帝耶和華所賜給你們的這塊美好的土地上滅亡。

不要和非信徒同負一軛，因為公義和不法怎能合作呢？光明和黑暗怎能共存呢？基督與魔鬼怎能相容呢？信徒與非信徒有什麼相干呢？上帝的殿與偶像怎能相提並論呢？因為我們就是永活上帝的殿，正如上帝說：「我要住在他們中間，在他們當中往來；我要作他們的上帝，他們要作我的子民。」又說：「所以，你們要從他們中間出來，離開他們，不要沾染污穢之物，我就接納你們。

跟他們通婚，祭拜他們的神明。以色列人做耶和華視為惡的事，忘記他們的上帝耶和華，祭拜假神巴力和亞舍拉。

上帝的兒子們看見人的女兒漂亮，就隨意選來做妻子。耶和華說：「人既然是血肉之軀，我的靈不會永遠住在人的裡面，然而人還可以活一百二十年。」
