The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.

The Lord chose you because he loved you very much. He didn’t choose you because you had more people than other nations. In fact, you had the smallest number of all.

It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples,

“ The Lord did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations!

“ The LORD had his heart set on you and chose you, not because you were more numerous than all peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples.

“ The Lord did not make you His beloved nor choose you because you were greater in number than any of the peoples, since you were the fewest of all peoples,

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;

Jehovah did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all peoples:

It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the LORD favored and chose you– for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples.

你们这一小群哪，不要怕，因为你们的父乐意把国度赐给你们。

实际上，双子还没有出生，也没有行善或作恶以前——为了要显明神的拣选心意不是本于人的行为，而是出于召唤人的那一位——神就对莉白加说：“大的将要服事小的。”正如经上所记：“我爱雅各，却恨以扫。”那么，我们要怎么说呢？难道神不公义吗？绝对不是！因为神对摩西说：“我要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁；我要同情谁，就同情谁。”

并不是我们爱了神，而是神爱了我们，差派他的儿子来，为我们的罪孽做了平息祭——在这里就是爱了。

这样看来，神要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁；要使谁顽固，就使谁顽固。

你们看，父所赐给我们的是何等的爱，为要使我们被称为“神的儿女”，而我们就是神的儿女。世人之所以不认识我们，是因为不认识父。

你们要仰望你们的先祖亚伯拉罕，以及那生你们的撒拉。我召唤了亚伯拉罕一个人，祝福了他，使他繁衍增多。

然而，那通向永生的门是多么小，路是多么窄，找到它的人是多么少。

以赛亚论到以色列人，呼喊说：“以色列子民的人数虽然多如海沙，将要得救的却是剩余的少数。主就是要在地上彻底、迅速地成就他的话。”又如以赛亚预先说过：“要不是万军之主给我们留下后裔，我们早就变得像所多玛、格摩拉那样了。”
