He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

He gave you manna to eat in the desert. Your people had never even known anything about manna before. The Lord took your pride away. He tested you. He did it so that things would go well with you in the end.

“耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘被掳去的犹大人，就是我打发离开这地方到迦勒底人之地去的，我必看他们如同这些好的无花果一样，眷顾他们。我必关注他们，眷顾他们，领他们归回这地。我必建立他们，必不拆毁；我必栽植他们，必不拔除。

因为我们短暂轻微的患难，是要为我们成就极大无比、永远的荣耀。

肉身的父亲照着自己的意思管教我们，只有短暂的日子；唯有神管教我们，是为着我们的好处，使我们在他的圣洁上有分。但是一切管教，在当时似乎不觉得快乐，反觉得痛苦；后来却为那些经过这种操练的人，结出平安的果子来，就是义。

能忍受试炼的人，是有福的；因为他经过考验之后，必得着生命的冠冕，这冠冕是主应许给爱他的人的。

安静等候耶和华的救恩，是多么的美好！人在幼年时就负轭，是多么的美好！他要无言独坐，因为这是耶和华加在他身上的。他要把自己的口埋于尘土中，或者还有盼望。他要让人打他的脸颊，要饱受凌辱。主必不会永远丢弃人。他虽然使人忧愁，却必照着他丰盛的慈爱施怜悯。因为他心里本不是要人受困苦，或是要世人愁苦。

我们知道，为了爱神的人，就是按他旨意蒙召的人的益处，万事都一同效力。

是要叫你们的信心经过试验，就比那被火炼过，仍会朽坏的金子更宝贵，可以在耶稣基督显现的时候，得著称赞、荣耀和尊贵。
