故此，我转想我在日光之下所劳碌的一切工作，心便绝望。

因此，我對自己在日光之下一切的勞碌感到絕望。

於是我轉念，對日光之下我所勞碌的一切，心感絕望；

故此我轉想：為了我在日光之下辛辛苦苦勞碌得來的一切，我的心便絕望了。

於是我回顧我在日光之下勞苦所做的一切工，就心感絕望；

我遂轉念、於日下勞力之操作、使心失望、

可知經營百事、絕無餘望。

於是我念及我在日下勞碌經營、我則失望、

So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun.

So I began to lose hope because of all my hard work on this earth.

So I turned about and gave my heart up to despair over all the toil of my labors under the sun,

So I gave up in despair, questioning the value of all my hard work in this world.

So I began to give myself over to despair concerning all my work that I had labored at under the sun.

Therefore I completely despaired over all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun.

Therefore I turned my heart and despaired of all the labor in which I had toiled under the sun.

Therefore I turned about to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor wherein I had labored under the sun.

So I began to give myself over to despair concerning all my work that I had labored at under the sun.

Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.

So I began to despair about all the fruit of my labor for which I worked so hard on earth.

Therefore I began to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor in which I had labored under the sun.

“ Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom; in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth without knowing whose it will finally be.“ But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you. (niv)

My days have passed, my plans are shattered. Yet the desires of my heartturn night into day; in the face of the darkness light is near.If the only home I hope for is the grave, if I spread out my bed in the realm of darkness,if I say to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ and to the worm,‘ My mother’ or‘ My sister,’where then is my hope— who can see any hope for me? (niv)

And may God Almighty grant you mercy before the man so that he will let your other brother and Benjamin come back with you. As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved.” (niv)

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, (niv)

so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destined for them.In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know. (niv)

If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. (niv)
