人苟生百子、享壽高、歷年久、而心不得享福、身不獲安葬、我謂未盈期而生者、較彼尤愈、

人有百子、又獲遐齡、生不能享福、死不得善葬、以我觀之、胎未成人者、較彼愈美。

設人生百子、又享遐齡、在世之年日甚多、而不得享所有以為福、死後亦不得安葬、以我觀之、以我觀之原文作我則曰胎死者較彼尤美、

A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children. He might live a long time. But suppose he can’t enjoy his wealth. And suppose he isn’t buried in the proper way. Then it doesn’t matter how long he lives. I’m telling you that a baby that is born dead is better off than that man is.

If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with life’s good things, and he also has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children and live to be very old. But if he finds no satisfaction in life and doesn’t even get a decent burial, it would have been better for him to be born dead.

A man may father a hundred children and live many years. No matter how long he lives, if he is not satisfied by good things and does not even have a proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

我為何不像流產的胎兒被埋藏，如同未見光的嬰孩？

但那尚未出生，就是未曾見過日光之下所發生之惡事的，比這兩種人更幸福。

他被埋葬好像埋驢子一樣，被拖出去，扔在耶路撒冷城門外。

他們去了，要埋葬她，卻只找到她的頭骨和腳，以及手掌。

雅各對法老說：「我在世寄居的年日是一百三十年，我一生的歲月又短又苦，比不上我祖先在世寄居的年日。」

惟獨你被拋棄在你的墳墓之外，有如被厭惡的枝子，被許多用刀刺透殺死的人覆蓋着，一同墜落地府的石頭那裏，像被踐踏的屍首。你不得與君王同葬，因為你毀壞你的國，殺戮你的民。「惡人的後裔永不留名。

以利為以利加拿和他妻子祝福，說：「願耶和華由這婦人再賜你後裔，代替從耶和華求來的孩子。」他們就回自己的地方去了。耶和華眷顧哈拿，她就懷孕生了三個兒子，兩個女兒。那孩子撒母耳在耶和華面前漸漸長大。

以掃舉目看見婦人和孩子，就說：「這些和你一起的是誰呢？」雅各說：「這些孩子是神施恩給你僕人的。」

王允准這麼做。敕令傳遍書珊，哈曼十個兒子的屍體被掛了起來。亞達月十四日，在書珊的猶太人又聚集，在書珊殺了三百人，卻沒有下手奪取財物。

散佈在太陽、月亮和天上眾星之下，就是他們從前所喜愛、所事奉、所隨從、所求問、所敬拜的。這些骸骨不被收殮，不被埋葬，必在地面上成為糞土。

亞哈有七十個兒子在撒瑪利亞。耶戶寫信送到撒瑪利亞，給耶斯列的領袖和長老，以及教養亞哈眾兒子的人，說：

羅波安有十八個妻和六十個妾，生了二十八個兒子，六十個女兒；他卻愛押沙龍的女兒瑪迦，過於愛其他的妻妾。

人子要去了，正如經上所寫有關他的；但出賣人子的人有禍了！那人沒有出生倒好。」

並且他終身在黑暗中吃喝，多有煩惱、病痛和怒氣。看哪，我所見為善為美的，就是人在神賜他一生的日子吃喝，享受日光之下勞碌得來的好處，因為這是他應得的報償。而且，一個人蒙神賞賜財富與資產，又使他能享用，能獲取自己當有的報償，在他的勞碌中喜樂，這是神的賞賜。

願他們像蝸牛腐爛消失，又像婦人流掉的胎兒，未見天日。

於是哈曼被掛在他為末底改所預備的木架上；王的憤怒才平息了。

所以耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在大衛的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白天受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。

耶和華賜我許多兒子，在我兒子中揀選我兒子所羅門坐耶和華國度的王位，治理以色列。

人在年輕時生的兒女好像勇士手中的箭。箭袋充滿的人有福了！他們在城門口和仇敵爭論時必不蒙羞。

子孫為老人的冠冕；父母是兒女的榮耀。

哈曼將他的榮華富貴、眾多的兒女，和王使他尊大、提升他高過官長和臣僕的事，都述說給他們聽。
