上帝造人、正直是務、惟人所為、機巧百出、我深察其故矣。

此外、我又察得天主造人、本為正直、惟人則多計謀、逞機巧、

This only have I found: God created mankind upright, but they have gone in search of many schemes.”

Thus they provoked[ him] to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man[ was] great in the earth, and[ that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart[ was] only evil continually.And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.Their throat[ is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps[ is] under their lips:Whose mouth[ is] full of cursing and bitterness:Their feet[ are] swift to shed blood:Destruction and misery[ are] in their ways:And the way of peace have they not known:There is no fear of God before their eyes.Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful,[ and] hating one another.

Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
