我劝你遵守王的命令；既指神起誓，理当如此。

我劝你因上帝誓言的缘故，当遵守王的命令。

我劝你因神誓言的缘故，当遵守王的命令。

我劝你遵守王的命令，因为你曾在上帝面前这样发誓。

我劝你，因为你指着神起了誓，你就要遵守王的命令。

我劝你遵守王的命令，因为你向神起了誓；

我勸你遵守王的命令；既指神起誓，理當如此。

我勸你因上帝誓言的緣故，當遵守王的命令。

王的命令你要遵守，這是為了你曾指着上帝來起誓的緣故。

我曰、當守王命、因指上帝而誓矣、

既指上帝而誓、必守王命、勿謀不軌、勿致位而不辭、爾若是、恐干王怒、蓋發號出令、由王獨斷。

我言爾當守王命、既指天主而誓、自當如此、

Obey the king’s command, I say, because you took an oath before God.

I’m telling you to obey the king’s command. You promised to serve him. You made a promise to God.

I say: Keep the king’s command, because of God’s oath to him.

Obey the king since you vowed to God that you would.

Keep the king’s command because of your oath made before God.

I say,“ Keep the command of the king because of the oath before God.

I say,“ Keep the king’s commandment for the sake of your oath to God.

I counsel thee, Keep the king’s command, and that in regard of the oath of God.

Keep the king’s command because of your oath made before God.

I[ counsel thee] to keep the king’s commandment, and[ that] in regard of the oath of God.

Obey the king’s command, because you took an oath before God to be loyal to him.

I say,“ Keep the king’s command!” because of the oath to God.

Why then did you not keep your oath to the Lord and obey the command I gave you?” (niv)

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority,or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover- up for evil; live as God’s slaves.Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. (niv)

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul. (niv)

Then he took a member of the royal family and made a treaty with him, putting him under oath. He also carried away the leading men of the land,so that the kingdom would be brought low, unable to rise again, surviving only by keeping his treaty.But the king rebelled against him by sending his envoys to Egypt to get horses and a large army. Will he succeed? Will he who does such things escape? Will he break the treaty and yet escape?“‘ As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, he shall die in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose treaty he broke.Pharaoh with his mighty army and great horde will be of no help to him in war, when ramps are built and siege works erected to destroy many lives.He despised the oath by breaking the covenant. Because he had given his hand in pledge and yet did all these things, he shall not escape.“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As surely as I live, I will repay him for despising my oath and breaking my covenant.I will spread my net for him, and he will be caught in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon and execute judgment on him there because he was unfaithful to me. (niv)

Fear the Lord and the king, my son, and do not join with rebellious officials, (niv)

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended.For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. (niv)

the issue between them will be settled by the taking of an oath before the Lord that the neighbor did not lay hands on the other person’s property. The owner is to accept this, and no restitution is required. (niv)

All the officers and warriors, as well as all of King David’s sons, pledged their submission to King Solomon. (niv)

Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, (niv)
