眾人都有一樣的遭遇：義人和惡人、好人和壞人、潔淨人和不潔淨的人、獻祭的和沒獻祭的、都一樣：好人怎樣，好犯罪的人也怎樣；起誓的怎麼，怕起誓的也怎樣。

凡临到众人的事都是一样：义人和恶人都遭遇一样的事；好人，洁净人和不洁净人，献祭的与不献祭的，也是一样。好人如何，罪人也如何；起誓的如何，怕起誓的也如何。

All share a common destiny— the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not. As it is with the good, so with the sinful; as it is with those who take oaths, so with those who are afraid to take them.

Everyone will die someday. Death comes to godly and sinful people alike. It comes to good and bad people alike. It comes to“ clean” and“ unclean” people alike. Those who offer sacrifices and those who don’t offer them also die. A good person dies, and so does a sinner. Those who make promises die. So do those who are afraid to make them.

It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.

The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don’t.

那時你們就必重新看出義人與惡人之間、事奉上帝的與不事奉上帝的之間、有甚麼分別了。

智慧人的眼在頭上看；愚頑人在黑暗裏走；我卻深知這兩種人都必遇見同一樣的遭遇。於是我心裏說：『愚頑人所遭遇的、我也會遭遇着，我為甚麼要有智慧呢？那我有甚麼長處呢？我就心裏說：這也是虛空。智慧人同愚頑人一樣、永遠無人懷念着；因為在將來的日子二者都會被忘掉；唉，智慧人死亡、終究同愚頑人一樣。

反正都一樣；故此我說：無論純全邪惡、他都滅盡。

萬軍之永恆主說：『我必走近你們來行審判；我必做個敏捷果決的見證、來警戒行邪術的、犯姦淫的、起假誓的、在工價上欺壓雇工人的、欺壓寡婦孤兒的、屈枉寄居的；而他們竟不畏懼我。

因為我見惡人平安興旺，我對狂傲之人就生了嫉妒。

二人就對她說：『以下這幾件事你總要行，不然、你叫我們起的誓就與我們無干了。注意吧，我們來到這地的時候，你要把這條朱紅線繩子繫在你縋我們下去的窗戶上；你也要叫你父親、母親、你弟兄、和你父全家、都聚集在你家中。凡出了你家門到外邊去的，流他血的罪就必歸到他自己的頭上，與我們無干；凡在你家裏的、若有人下手害他，流他血的罪總要歸到我們頭上。你若把我們這件事告訴人，那麼你叫我們起的誓就與我們無干了。』

頂好要掌握着這個；那個也不要鬆手；因為敬畏上帝的人必須把兩樣都掌握得對。

好犯罪的人雖百般地作壞事，而延年益壽，但我準知道：敬畏上帝的人終久必得享樂，因為他們在他面前存着敬畏的心；但是惡人卻不能得享樂，而延年益壽；他只像日影；因為他在上帝面前不存着敬畏的心。有一件虛空的事、是地上常發生的：就是有義人、所遭遇的、是照惡人的行為應得的；又有惡人、所遭遇的、是照義人的行為所應得的：我說這也是虛空。

誰使上帝喜悅，上帝就給誰智慧、知識、和喜樂；惟有罪人、上帝卻給他勞苦，叫他將所收聚所積蓄的歸給那使上帝所喜悅的人：這也是虛空，也是捕風。

往有喪事的家去，比往宴飲的家去好；因為死是一切人的終局；活人必須將這事放在心上。

他對我說：『這是發出的咒詛、行於全地上的：凡偷竊的必按卷上這面的話被清除；凡奉我名起假誓的必按卷上那面的話被清除。永恆主發神諭說：我必使這書卷出去，進入偷竊之人的家、和奉我名起假誓之人的家；這書卷必留在他家中去消滅它，連木料帶石頭都滅盡。』

惡人為甚麼活着，享大壽數，勢力強盛呢？他們的後裔在他們面前和他們一同樹立起來；他們出的子孫都在他們眼前長大。他們的家宅平安無懼，上帝的刑杖未曾打過他們。他們的公牛、傳種而不厭倦；他們的母牛、下犢而不掉胎。他們打發小孩出去、多如羊羣；他們的兒女踴躍舞蹈。他們隨着手鼓和琴而高唱，又因簫笛的聲音而歡喜。他們興隆順遂地消磨了年日，一眨眼就下陰間，毫無痛苦。然而他們對上帝說：「離開我們吧！我們不願意認識你的道路。全能者是甚麼，我們得事奉他呀？我們向他祈求、有甚麼用處？」你看，他們的福樂豈不是在於自己手中麼？惡人的謀算是離上帝很遠的。『惡人的燈何嘗熄滅呢？災難何嘗臨到他們？上帝何嘗氣忿忿把痛苦分給他們呢？他們何嘗像風前的禾藁？像暴風颳去的糠粃呢？你們說：「上帝為惡人的兒女積藏着罪罰。」我說：不如報應他本人，讓他親自知道好。願他親眼看到自己的敗亡；願他親自吸飲全能者的烈怒。他歲月的數目既被截斷，他對他本家哪裏還有興趣顧到呢？上帝既審判那在高位的，誰能將知識教給他呢？有人至死十分健壯，享盡康寧安逸；他的奶桶滿滿，他的骨髓滋潤。有人至死心裏愁苦，未曾嘗過福樂。但人人都一樣長臥於塵土中，有蛆蟲覆蓋着他們。『啊，我知道你們的意思、和你們橫逆待我的計謀。你們說：「霸者的房屋在哪裏？惡人住過的帳棚在哪裏？」你們沒有詢問過路人麼？他們所引的證據、你們不認得麼？就是壞人當災難的日子得存留，當上帝震怒的時日得送終。對他所行的路、有誰當面說他？他所作的、有誰使他得報應呢？然而他卻得送終到墳墓，他的陵墓並且有人儆醒守着。他以谿谷中的泥塊為甘甜；眾人都跟着他前進而送他；在他以先去的更是無數。你們答覆的話無非是不忠實，怎麼還託空言來安慰我呢？』

他藐視了發咒起誓的話，違犯了盟約；曾經舉手起了誓，還行這一切事，他必不能逃脫。因此主永恆主這麼說：我指着永活的我來起誓，對他所藐視我發咒起誓的話、和他所違犯我立的約、我一定要將這罪還報在他頭上。

我要叫你指着永恆主、天之上帝、地之上帝、來起誓，不要從迦南人、就是我住在他們中間的迦南人中為我兒子娶妻。

就使那人活了千年，再活了千年，卻沒有經驗過享樂，有甚麼用處？眾人不是都要歸於一個地方去麼？

如今我們呢、竟稱傲慢人為有福了！而行惡的人居然得建立了！他們雖試探上帝，卻還得逃脫、免受災難呢！」』

倘若女子不情願跟你來，我叫你起的誓就與你無干；只不可帶我兒子回那裏去就是了。僕人就把手放在他主人亞伯拉罕的大腿下、根據這訓話向他起誓。

人民進了森林，聽見有蜜滴下來，卻沒有人敢伸手取蜜入口，因為怕那起誓的話。
