因為丈夫是妻子的頭，正如基督是教會的頭。他就是那「身體」的拯救者。

他是身體、教會、的頭；他是元始，是從死人中首先活起來的首生者，好使他在萬事上居首位，

但我們總要以愛心持守真理，各方面長大、直到長成了基督：基督就是元首。

上帝又使萬有順服在他腳下，並使他做教會的至上元首。教會是他的身體，是那正在完完全全被充滿者之充分完滿。

做丈夫的，你們要愛妻子，正如基督愛了教會；為她捨棄了自己。用水的洗、用話語來潔淨她、好奉獻她為聖；

他們直唱新的歌說：『你是配取那書卷、而揭開其印的；因為你曾被屠殺，曾用你的血從各族派各種語言的人、各民族各邦國中、買了人來，歸於上帝；

食物是為肚子，肚子也是為食物；但無論這個和那個，上帝都要廢掉。身體不是為淫亂，乃是為主的；主也是為身體的。

靜候着他兒子由天而來，就是他從死人中所甦活起來的、那位援救我們脫離將來神怒的耶穌。

聖靈在全羣中立你們做監督，你們要關顧到自己、以及全羣，牧養主的教會，就是他用自己的血所取得來的。
