酒能使人傲慢，烈酒使人喧嚷，凡沉溺其中的，都無智慧。

往喪家去，強如往宴樂的家，因為死是眾人的結局，活人必將這事放在心上。憂愁強如喜笑，因為面帶愁容，終必使心喜樂。智慧人的心在遭喪之家；愚昧人的心在快樂之家。

不要醉酒，酒能使人放蕩；要被聖靈充滿。要用詩篇、讚美詩、靈歌彼此對說，口唱心和地讚美主。

約瑟把他面前的食物分給他們，但便雅憫所得的比別人多五倍。他們就喝酒，和約瑟一同暢飲。

擺設宴席是為歡樂。酒能使人快活，錢能叫萬事應心。

王吩咐太監長亞施毗拿，從以色列人的王室後裔和貴族中帶進幾個人來，就是沒有殘疾、相貌俊美、通達各樣學問、知識聰明俱備、足能在王宮侍立的少年，要教他們迦勒底的文字和語言。王從自己所用的膳和所飲的酒中，派給他們每日的分量，養育他們三年，好叫他們期滿以後侍立在王面前。
