They were carried by messengers. They were sent to all the king’s territories. The orders commanded people to destroy, kill and wipe out all the Jews. That included young people and old people alike. It included women and children. All the Jews were supposed to be killed on a single day. That day was the 13th day of the 12th month. It was the month of Adar. The orders also commanded people to take everything that belonged to the Jews.

現在你要去攻打亞瑪力人，滅盡他們所有的，不可憐惜他們，將男女、孩童、吃奶的，以及牛、羊、駱駝和驢全都殺死。』」

末底改奉亞哈隨魯王的名寫諭旨，用王的戒指蓋印，交給信差們騎上御用的王室快馬去頒佈。王准各城各鎮的猶太人在一日之內，在十二月，就是亞達月的十三日聚集，在亞哈隨魯王的各省保護自己的性命，剪除，殺戮，滅絕那要攻擊猶太人的各省各族所有的軍隊，以及他們的妻子兒女，奪取他們的財產為掠物。

因為對那不憐憫人的，他們要受沒有憐憫的審判；憐憫勝過審判。

「我的日子比奔跑者更快，急速過去，不見福樂。

通報的彼此相遇，送信的彼此相遇，報告巴比倫王，城的四方都被攻下了，

又用刀把祭司城挪伯中的男女、孩童和吃奶的都殺了，又用刀殺了牛、羊和驢子。

他們的腳為殺人流血飛跑；

因為我和我的本族被出賣了，要被剪除，殺戮，滅絕。我們若被賣為奴為婢，我就閉口不言；但我們的痛苦比起王的損失，算不得甚麼。」

我要差遣他攻擊褻瀆的國，吩咐他對付我所惱怒的民，搶走擄物，奪取掠物，將他們踐踏，如同街上的泥土一般。
