“ Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

不过，只要能跑完我当跑的路程，完成主耶稣交托给我的使命——为上帝充满恩典的福音做见证，就是牺牲性命，我也在所不惜。

约沙法很害怕，决定寻求耶和华，在整个犹大宣告禁食。

耶和华说：“现在，你们要禁食、哭泣、哀号，全心回转归向我。”你们要撕心般地悔改，而不是撕裂衣服。归向你们的上帝耶和华吧，因为祂有恩典和怜悯，不轻易发怒，有无限的慈爱，不忍心降灾祸。谁知道呢？或许祂转念心生怜悯，给你们留下祝福，使你们可以再次向你们的上帝耶和华献上素祭和奠祭。要在锡安山吹响号角，宣布禁食的日子，举行庄严的聚会。要招聚老人，聚集孩童，包括吃奶的婴儿；要吩咐新郎出洞房、新娘出内室；要召集全体人民，让他们洁净自己。让事奉耶和华的祭司站在圣殿门廊和祭坛中间，哭泣恳求说：“耶和华啊，求你顾惜你的子民，不要让外族人侮辱、讥笑你的产业说，‘你们的上帝在哪里呢？’”

因为想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但为了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。

我拣选了他，是要他教导自己的子孙后代持守我的道、秉公行义。这样，我必实现对他的应许。”

如果你们不愿意事奉耶和华，今天就选择你们的神明吧，或大河那边你们祖先事奉的神明，或你们这里亚摩利人的神明。至于我和我全家，我们必事奉耶和华。”

约拿进城走了一天，宣告说：“再过四十天尼尼微就要毁灭了！”尼尼微城的人相信了上帝的话，便宣告禁食，所有的人，无论大小贵贱都换上麻衣。尼尼微王听到这消息后，便走下宝座，脱下王袍，披上麻衣，坐在炉灰中。王又向全城颁布命令，说：“王和大臣有令，所有的人都必须禁食，牛羊牲畜都不许吃草也不许喝水。人和牲畜都必须披上麻衣，众人要向上帝恳切呼求，改邪归正，停止作恶。上帝或许会施怜悯，收回烈怒，使我们不致灭亡，也未可知。”

你们要定一个禁食的日子，举行庄严的聚会，召集全国的长老和人民，到你们的上帝耶和华的殿中，向耶和华呼求。太可怕了！耶和华的日子近了，那是全能者施行毁灭的日子。

愿全能的上帝叫那人怜悯你们，让西缅和便雅悯回来。我若丧子就丧子吧！”

第三天，以斯帖身穿朝服进入王宫内院，面对大殿站立，王在殿里正面朝宫门坐在宝座上。

我们要刚强，为我们的人民和我们上帝的城邑而奋勇作战。愿耶和华成全祂自己的旨意！”

为了救我将生死置之度外。不但我感谢他们，就是外族人的教会也感谢他们。

那日，万军之耶和华呼召你们哭泣哀号，剃光头发，身披麻衣。

他为了基督的工作，将生死置之度外，几乎丧命，以弥补你们服侍我的不足之处。

一连三天，扫罗什么也看不见，也不吃也不喝。

到了黎明时分，保罗劝大家吃东西，说：“你们提心吊胆、不思饮食已经十四天了。

约拿在大鱼腹中三日三夜，人子也要在地里三日三夜。

但保罗说：“你们为什么这样哭泣，令我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名甘愿受捆绑，甚至死在耶路撒冷。”
