“ Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

“ Go. Gather together all the Jews who are in Susa. And fast for my benefit. Don’t eat or drink anything for three days. Don’t do it night or day. I and my attendants will fast just as you do. Then I’ll go to the king. I’ll do it even though it’s against the law. And if I have to die, I’ll die.”

“ Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”

我却不以性命为念，只要走完我的路程，完成我从主耶稣所领受的职分，为神恩典的福音作见证。

约沙法惧怕，就定意寻求耶和华，在全犹大宣告禁食。

然而你们现在要禁食，哭泣，哀号，一心归向我。这是耶和华说的。你们要撕裂心肠，不要撕裂衣服。归向耶和华—你们的神，因为他有恩惠，有怜悯，不轻易发怒，有丰盛的慈爱，并且会改变心意，不降那灾难。谁知道他也许会回心转意，留下余福，就是献给耶和华—你们神的素祭和浇酒祭。你们要在锡安吹角，使禁食的日子分别为圣，宣告严肃会。聚集百姓，使会众自洁；召集老年人，聚集孩童和在母怀吃奶的；使新郎出内室，新娘离开洞房。事奉耶和华的祭司要在走廊和祭坛间哭泣，说：“耶和华啊，求你顾惜你的百姓，不要使你的产业受羞辱，在列国中成为笑柄。为何让人在万民中说‘他们的神在哪里’呢？”

因为凡要救自己生命的，必丧失生命；凡为我丧失生命的，他必救自己的生命。

我拣选他，为要叫他命令他的子孙和后代家属遵行耶和华的道，秉公行义，使耶和华所应许亚伯拉罕的话都实现了。”

若你们认为事奉耶和华不好，今日就可以选择所要事奉的：是你们列祖在大河那边所事奉的神明，或是你们所住这地亚摩利人的神明呢？至于我和我家，我们必定事奉耶和华。”

约拿进城，走了一天，宣告说：“再过四十天，尼尼微要倾覆了！”尼尼微人就信服神，宣告禁食，从最大的到最小的都穿上麻衣。这消息传到尼尼微王那里，他就从宝座起来，脱下朝服，披上麻布，坐在灰中。他叫人通告尼尼微全城，说：“王和大臣有令，人、畜、牛、羊都不可尝任何东西，不可吃，也不可喝水。人与牲畜都要披上麻布，切切求告神。各人要回转离开恶道，离弃自己掌中的残暴。谁知道神也许会回心转意，不发烈怒，使我们不致灭亡。”

你们要使禁食的日子分别为圣，宣告严肃会，召集长老和这地所有的居民来到耶和华—你们神的殿，向耶和华哀求。哀哉，这日子！因为耶和华的日子临近，好像毁灭从全能者来到。

愿全能的神使你们在那人面前蒙怜悯，放你们另一个兄弟和便雅悯回来。我若要失丧儿子，就丧了吧！”

第三日，以斯帖穿上朝服，站立在王宫的内院，对着王宫。王在殿里坐在宝座上，对着殿的门。

你要刚强，我们要为自己的百姓，为我们神的城镇奋勇。愿耶和华照他所看为好的去做！”

也为我的性命把自己的生死置之度外；不但我感谢他们，就是外邦的众教会也感谢他们。

当那日，万军之主耶和华使人哭泣哀号，头上光秃，身披麻布。

因他为做基督的工作不顾性命，几乎至死，为要补足你们供应我不够的地方。

他三天什么都看不见，也不吃也不喝。

天快亮的时候，保罗劝众人都用餐，说：“你们一直捱饿等候，不吃什么，已经十四天了。

约拿三日三夜在大鱼肚腹中，同样，人子也要三日三夜在地里面。

于是保罗回答：“你们为什么这样痛哭，使我心碎呢？我为主耶稣的名，不但被人捆绑，就是死在耶路撒冷也是愿意的。”

他拚了命杀那非利士人，并且耶和华为全以色列大施拯救。那时你看见，也很欢喜，现在为何要犯罪，流无辜人的血，无缘无故杀大卫呢？”

向他说话的天使离开后，哥尼流叫了两个仆人和常伺候他的一个虔诚的兵来，
