王的谕旨所到的各省各城，犹大人都欢喜快乐，设摆筵宴，以那日为吉日。那国的人民，有许多因惧怕犹大人，就入了犹大籍。

王的谕旨和敕令所到的各省各城，犹太人都欢喜快乐，摆设宴席，以那日为吉日。国中许多民族的人因惧怕犹太人，就自称为犹太人。

In every province and in every city to which the edict of the king came, there was joy and gladness among the Jews, with feasting and celebrating. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.

They celebrated and enjoyed good food. They were glad and full of joy. That was true everywhere the king’s order came. It was true in every territory and every city. Many people from other nations announced that they had become Jews. That’s because they were so afraid of the Jews.

And in every province and in every city, wherever the king’s command and his edict reached, there was gladness and joy among the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many from the peoples of the country declared themselves Jews, for fear of the Jews had fallen on them.

In every province and city, wherever the king’s decree arrived, the Jews rejoiced and had a great celebration and declared a public festival and holiday. And many of the people of the land became Jews themselves, for they feared what the Jews might do to them.

In every province and every city where the king’s command and edict reached, gladness and joy took place among the Jews. There was a celebration and a holiday. And many of the ethnic groups of the land professed themselves to be Jews because fear of the Jews had overcome them.

In each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree arrived, there was joy and jubilation for the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many among the peoples of the land became Jews, because the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.

因此猶大人、住在無牆之城的鄉下人、都以亞達月十四日作為歡樂宴飲的日子，作為休假日，彼此贈送禮物。

在你們面前必沒有一個人能站立得住；永恆主你們的上帝必使你們所要踏的地的居民震懾你們、懼怕你們，照他所告訴過你們的。

請問你僮僕，他們自會告訴你的。為此願我的僮僕得到你顧愛；因為我們是在佳節日子來的；求你將隨手找得着的給僕人和你兒子大衛。」』

作為猶大人脫離仇敵、得享平安的日子，作為從愁苦轉為歡樂、從悲哀轉為快樂的假日月份，叫他們以這兩天作為宴飲歡樂的日子，彼此贈送禮物、給窮人送恩物。

就在今日、我就要開始叫普天下聽見你名聲的萬族民都震懾你懼怕你，以致因你而發顫絞痛。」

恐怖震懾襲擊了他們。永恆主啊，因你膀臂之大能力，他們竟如石頭寂然不動，等你的人民過去，等你所獲得的人民過去。

他們便起行，隨有極大的驚慌佈滿了四圍的城市，他們就不追趕雅各的兒子了。

『萬軍之永恆主這麼說：將來必有萬族之民和多城的居民還要來到；這一城的居民必去見另一城的居民說：「我們總要趕快去求永恆主的情面，去尋求萬軍之永恆主哦！讓我去吧！也讓我吧！」必有許多外族之民和強盛之國要前來，在耶路撒冷尋求萬軍之永恆主，求永恆主的情面。萬軍之永恆主這麼說：當那些日子列國說各樣語言的人之中十個人必拉住一個猶大人的衣邊、說：「讓我們和你們一同去吧！因為我們聽說上帝與你們同在。」』

他們猶大人就立了定例，應承他們自己與他們的後裔、以及一切皈依他們的人、年年都要按其指定日期和所記載的規例守這兩天，好使永不廢墮；

猶大人在亞哈隨魯王、各省的城裏、就聚集攏來，要下手擊殺那些想法子要害他們的人；沒有人在他們面前能站得住，因為各族之民都起了震懾他們的心。

他又對他們說：『你們去喫肥美的，喝甘甜的，將祭肉分兒送給那不能豫備的；因為今天是我們的主的聖日；你們不要憂愁，因為靠永恆主而得的喜樂、就是你們的力量。』

你解救了我脫離萬族民的爭競；你立了我做列國的首領；我不認識的民事奉了我。

這是在亞達月十三日的事。在十四日他們就休息，以十四日一天作為宴飲歡樂的日子。
