Now write another decree in the king’s name in behalf of the Jews as seems best to you, and seal it with the king’s signet ring— for no document written in the king’s name and sealed with his ring can be revoked.”

He still prays three times a day.”When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed; he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him.Then the men went as a group to King Darius and said to him,“ Remember, Your Majesty, that according to the law of the Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king issues can be changed.” (niv)

Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered— in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.” (niv)

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.
