惟后至王前哀告、王降詔以哈曼謀害猶大人之惡、歸於其首、又命將哈曼及其眾子懸於木、

But when the plot came to the king’s attention, he issued written orders that the evil scheme Haman had devised against the Jews should come back onto his own head, and that he and his sons should be impaled on poles.

But the king had found out about Haman’s evil plan. So the king had sent out written orders. He had ordered that Haman’s evil plan against the Jews should happen to him instead. The king also commanded that poles be stuck through the dead bodies of Haman and his sons. Then they should be set up where everyone could see them.

But when it came before the king, he gave orders in writing that his evil plan that he had devised against the Jews should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

But when Esther came before the king, he issued a decree causing Haman’s evil plot to backfire, and Haman and his sons were impaled on a sharpened pole.

他的祸患将归到自己的头上，他的残暴将落在自己的头顶。

以斯帖就说：“如果王认为好，就请王允许苏萨的犹太人明天也照着今天的法令去做，并且把哈曼的十个儿子挂在木架上。”王就下令如此做了。于是这法令在苏萨颁布，人们把哈曼的十个儿子挂了起来。

那跌落在这石头上的人，就将被破碎；这石头落在谁的身上，就会把谁砸得稀烂。”

至于那些围困我的人，愿他们嘴唇的祸患遮盖自己的头；

他喜爱诅咒人，诅咒就临到他；他不喜欢祝福人，祝福就远离他。他把诅咒当作衣袍穿上，所以诅咒像水那样进到他里面，像油那样进到他的骨头里。

愿恶人都落在自己的网罗里，而我却安然经过。

亚哈随鲁王就问王后以斯帖说：“那胆敢这样做的人是谁？那人在哪里？”以斯帖说：“那敌人、那仇敌，就是这恶人哈曼！”哈曼就在王和王后面前惊惶失措。王在怒火中从酒席起身，到宫室庭园去；哈曼却留在那里，求王后以斯帖救他的命，因为他看到王已经决意要把祸患加在他身上。王从宫室庭园回到酒席厅，哈曼正伏在以斯帖所靠的床榻上；王就说：“这个人竟敢在宫殿里，在我面前污辱王后！”这话从王的口一出，人们就蒙住了哈曼的脸。那时，在王面前的一个太监哈波纳说：“看哪，哈曼为那报信救王的末迪凯做了一个木架，立在哈曼家里，高五十肘！”王就说：“把哈曼挂在上面！”于是人就把哈曼挂在他为末迪凯所预备的木架上。王的怒火这才平息了。当天，亚哈随鲁王把犹太人的敌人哈曼的家交给了王后以斯帖。末迪凯也来到王的面前，因为以斯帖已经把末迪凯与她的关系告诉了王。王取下自己的印戒，就是他从哈曼那里收回的，把它交给了末迪凯；以斯帖也安排末迪凯管理哈曼的家。以斯帖再次到王面前求告，俯伏在王的脚前哭泣，恳求王废掉亚甲人哈曼的恶谋和他针对犹太人所谋划的计策。王向以斯帖伸出金杖，以斯帖就起身，站在王的面前。她说：“如果王认为好，如果我在王面前蒙恩，如果这事在王面前合宜，如果我在王眼前蒙喜悦，就请王下旨撤回亚甲人哈米达塔的儿子哈曼所谋设的诏书，就是他写下要消灭王各省中犹太人的那诏书。我怎么能看着我的民族遭受这灾祸呢？怎么能看着我的宗族灭亡呢？”亚哈随鲁王就对王后以斯帖和犹太人末迪凯说：“看哪！我已经把哈曼的家交给以斯帖，人们也把哈曼挂在木架上了，因为他要对犹太人下手。你们就照着你们眼中看为好的，以王的名义给犹太人下旨，用王的印戒封印吧；因为以王的名义下旨、用王的印戒封印的文书是不能撤回的。”那时是三月（西弯月）二十三日，王的书记们被召来，照着末迪凯所吩咐的一切，给犹太人下旨，也给从印度到库实一百二十七个省的行政官、省长和各省的首领下旨，用各省的文字给各个省，用各民族的语言给各个民族，用犹太人的文字和语言给犹太人。末迪凯以亚哈随鲁王的名义下旨，用王的印戒封印，藉着骑马的信使们把诏书传送出去；他们骑的是御用的快马，都是良种的赛马。在诏书中，王允许各个城市的犹太人，在亚哈随鲁王各省中，在十二月（亚达月）十三日，一天之内，聚集起来，保护自己的性命，除灭、击杀、消灭所有攻击犹太人的各族各省的武装力量，甚至他们的孩童和妇女，并且掠夺他们的财物。
