耶和華對摩西說：“你起程回到埃及去的時候，要留意我交在你手裡的一切奇事，把它們行在法老面前；我卻要使他的心剛硬，他就不讓人民離開。

但耶和華使法老心裡剛硬，因此他不願意讓他們離開。

但是耶和華使法老的心剛硬，以致法老不肯讓以色列人離開。

還是你藐視神豐富的恩慈、寬容和忍耐，不曉得他的恩慈是要領你悔改的嗎？可是你一直硬著心腸，不肯悔改，為自己積蓄神的忿怒，就是他彰顯公義審判的那天所要發的忿怒。

但是希實本王西宏不肯讓我們從他那裡經過，因為耶和華我們的神使他的心意頑固，使他的心剛硬，為要把他交在你的手裡，像今日一樣。

如果神有意要顯明他的忿怒，彰顯他的大能，而多多容忍那可怒、預備遭毀滅的器皿，

他心裡有智慧，而且有極大的能力，有誰對他剛硬而平安無事呢？

你們為甚麼要硬著心，像以前埃及人和法老那樣呢？神嚴嚴地對付他們以後，他們不是放走了以色列人，以色列人不是真的離開了嗎？

法老心裡剛硬，不肯聽他們的話，就像耶和華所說的一樣。耶和華對摩西說：“法老心裡固執，拒絕讓人民離去。
