Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the Israelites swear an oath. He had said,“ God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.”

一天，约瑟对他的弟兄们说：“我快要死了，但上帝必看顾你们，带你们离开这里，回到祂起誓应许给亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的地方。”约瑟要以色列的子孙发誓把他的骸骨带回迦南，又说：“上帝必看顾你们。”

以色列人把从埃及带出来的约瑟的骸骨葬在示剑，在从前雅各用一百块银子向哈抹的子孙买的那块地里。哈抹是示剑的父亲。后来那块地成了约瑟子孙的产业。

后来他们的遗体被带回示剑，安葬在亚伯拉罕买自哈抹子孙的墓地里。

百姓相信了。以色列人听见耶和华眷顾他们、看到了他们的苦难，都俯伏敬拜祂。

亲戚和邻居听见主向她大施怜悯，都和她一同欢乐。

以色列对约瑟说：“我快死了，但上帝必与你们同在，带你们回到你们祖先的土地。

在场的人惊惧万分，把荣耀归给上帝，说：“我们中间出了一位大先知！”又说：“上帝眷顾了祂的百姓！”
