“我们还不如当初在埃及就死在耶和华手中。在那里，我们至少可以围在肉锅旁吃个饱。现在，你把我们带到旷野来，是要叫全体会众饿死在这里吗？”

以色列人對他們說：『巴不得我們在埃及地早死在永恆主手裏；那時我們坐在肉鍋旁邊，喫餅喫到飽飽地，你們竟將我們領出來、到這曠野，要叫這全體大眾都餓死啊！』

願在埃及、死於耶和華手、爾時坐於肉鼎之側、食餅而飽、爾導我入此野、是欲以饑殺斯會眾也、○

曰昔我在埃及有肉盈鼎、有餅果腹、盍乘此時、死於耶和華手、奚導我於野、使會眾饑而死乎、

以色列人謂之曰、願主使我死於伊及地、我在彼有肉盈釜、有餅可飽、何導我於此曠野、使斯眾饑而死乎、

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

The Israelites said to them,“ We wish the Lord had put us to death in Egypt. There we sat around pots of meat. We ate all the food we wanted. But you have brought us out into this desert. You must want this entire community to die of hunger.”

and the people of Israel said to them,“ Would that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

“ If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned.“ There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by pots of meat and ate all the bread we wanted. Instead, you brought us into this wilderness to make this whole assembly die of hunger!”

The sons of Israel said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread until we were full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this entire assembly with hunger!”

And the children of Israel said to them,“ Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

and the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh- pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by pots of meat and ate all the bread we wanted. Instead, you brought us into this wilderness to make this whole assembly die of hunger!”

And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots,[ and] when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

The Israelites said to them,“ If only we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this desert to kill this whole assembly with hunger!”

and the children of Israel said to them,“ We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said,“ If only we had meat to eat!We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost— also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. (niv)

Those killed by the sword are better off than those who die of famine; racked with hunger, they waste away for lack of food from the field. (niv)

But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said,“ Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?” (niv)

They quarreled with Moses and said,“ If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord!Why did you bring the Lord’s community into this wilderness, that we and our livestock should die here?Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grapevines or pomegranates. And there is no water to drink!” (niv)

In the morning you will say,“ If only it were evening!” and in the evening,“ If only it were morning!”— because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights that your eyes will see. (niv)

All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them,“ If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! (niv)

And Joshua said,“ Alas, Sovereign Lord, why did you ever bring this people across the Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? If only we had been content to stay on the other side of the Jordan! (niv)

Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have begun to reign— and that without us! How I wish that you really had begun to reign so that we also might reign with you! (niv)

Paul replied,“ Short time or long— I pray to God that not only you but all who are listening to me today may become what I am, except for these chains.” (niv)

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. (niv)

When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said,“ It would be better for me to die than to live.”But God said to Jonah,“ Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?”“ It is,” he said.“ And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.” (niv)

The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said:“ O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you— O Absalom, my son, my son!” (niv)

During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. (niv)

and they said,“ May the Lord look on you and judge you! You have made us obnoxious to Pharaoh and his officials and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.” (niv)

If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me— if I have found favor in your eyes— and do not let me face my own ruin.” (niv)

Cursed be the day I was born! May the day my mother bore me not be blessed!Cursed be the man who brought my father the news, who made him very glad, saying,“ A child is born to you— a son!”May that man be like the towns the Lord overthrew without pity. May he hear wailing in the morning, a battle cry at noon.For he did not kill me in the womb, with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever.Why did I ever come out of the womb to see trouble and sorrow and to end my days in shame? (niv)

Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness? And now you also want to lord it over us! (niv)

“ Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter of soul, (niv)

After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth. (niv)

for it did not shut the doors of the womb on me to hide trouble from my eyes. (niv)

I hope you will put up with me in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me! (niv)

They did not ask,‘ Where is the Lord, who brought us up out of Egypt and led us through the barren wilderness, through a land of deserts and ravines, a land of drought and utter darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?’ (niv)

The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.“ You have killed the Lord’s people,” they said. (niv)
