Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset.

When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up— one on one side, one on the other— so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees.

Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us.

For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.

And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.

Lift up your spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Let me hear you say,“ I will give you victory!”

Then he returned and found the disciples asleep. He said to Peter,“ Simon, are you asleep? Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”Then Jesus left them again and prayed the same prayer as before.When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open. And they didn’t know what to say.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.

Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter,“ Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed,“ My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done.”When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open.So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.Then he came to the disciples and said,“ Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But look— the time has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
