“ Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

For they are not meaningless words to you but they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”

Listen to your father who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old.Buy— and do not sell— truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding.The father of a righteous son will rejoice greatly, and one who fathers a wise son will delight in him.Let your father and mother have joy, and let her who gave birth to you rejoice.

For God said: Honor your father and your mother; and, Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.But you say,‘ Whoever tells his father or mother,“ Whatever benefit you might have received from me is a gift committed to the temple,”he does not have to honor his father.’ In this way, you have nullified the word of God because of your tradition.

A fool despises his father’s discipline, but a person who accepts correction is sensible.

“ You are to rise in the presence of the elderly and honor the old. Fear your God; I am the LORD.

The one who robs his father or mother and says,“ That’s no sin,” is a companion to a person who destroys.

“ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is your fear of me? says the LORD of Armies to you priests, who despise my name.” Yet you ask,“ How have we despised your name?”

There is a generation that curses its father and does not bless its mother.
