And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in his presence!

But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank.

But God didn’t destroy those Israelite leaders when they saw him. They ate and drank.

And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank.

God did not harm the Israelite nobles; they saw him, and they ate and drank.

Yet He did not reach out with His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and they saw God, and they ate and drank.

But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.

And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: and they beheld God, and did eat and drink.

When we bless the cup at the Lord’s Table, aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?And though we are many, we all eat from one loaf of bread, showing that we are one body.Think about the people of Israel. Weren’t they united by eating the sacrifices at the altar?

Has any nation ever heard the voice of God speaking from fire— as you did— and survived?

The nobles send servants to get water, but all the wells are dry. The servants return with empty pitchers, confused and desperate, covering their heads in grief.

“ Down from Tabor marched the few against the nobles. The people of the Lord marched down against mighty warriors.

This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break.When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket.Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”“ What is your name?” the man asked. He replied,“ Jacob.”“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him.“ From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”“ Please tell me your name,” Jacob said.“ Why do you want to know my name?” the man replied. Then he blessed Jacob there.Jacob named the place Peniel( which means“ face of God”), for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”The sun was rising as Jacob left Peniel, and he was limping because of the injury to his hip.( Even today the people of Israel don’t eat the tendon near the hip socket because of what happened that night when the man strained the tendon of Jacob’s hip.)

So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent them to the elders and other leaders of the town where Naboth lived.

Then the commanders, nobles, rulers, and all the people of the land escorted the king from the Temple of the Lord. They went through the upper gate and into the palace, and they seated the king on the royal throne.

The city officials did not know I had been out there or what I was doing, for I had not yet said anything to anyone about my plans. I had not yet spoken to the Jewish leaders— the priests, the nobles, the officials, or anyone else in the administration.

And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast,for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.

There you and your families will feast in the presence of the Lord your God, and you will rejoice in all you have accomplished because the Lord your God has blessed you.

“ For Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him.

So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!
