Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded,“ We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”

When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that[ is] within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:And[ that] their children, which have not known[ any thing], may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Whereupon neither the first[ testament] was dedicated without blood.For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,Saying, This[ is] the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.[ It was] therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels[ and] in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying,[ Ye] men[ and] brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the[ epistle] from Laodicea.
