耶和華聞到了那馨香之氣，就心裡說：「我絕不再因人的緣故詛咒這地，儘管人從年幼時就心懷邪惡；我也絕不再像我曾做的，毀滅所有的活物。

以撒對父親亞伯拉罕說：「父親哪！」亞伯拉罕說：「我兒啊，我在這裡！」以撒說：「看哪，火和木柴都有了，但燔祭用的羔羊在哪裡呢？」

以全心、全智、全力來愛神，並且要愛鄰如己，這是比所有的燔祭和各種祭祀都重要的。」

要在愛中行事，就像基督也愛了我們，為我們捨棄了自己，做供物和祭物獻給神，成為馨香的氣味。

耶和華說：「你們所獻的眾多祭物，對我有什麼意義呢？公綿羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂油，我已經膩煩了；公牛、羊羔和公山羊的血，我也不喜悅。

神說：「帶上你的兒子，就是你所愛的獨生子以撒，往摩利亞地去；在我將要指示你的山上，把他獻為燔祭。」

燔祭和贖罪祭不是你所喜悅的；於是我說：『看哪，我來了！關於我的事，經卷上已經記載了。神哪，我來是要遵行你的旨意！』」上文說：祭物、供物、燔祭和贖罪祭不是你所希望的，也不是你所喜悅的，儘管這些都是照著律法獻上的；接著又說：「看哪，我來了！是要遵行你的旨意！」神廢除前者，是為了確立後者。我們憑著這旨意，藉著耶穌基督身體做供物，就已經一次性地被分別為聖了。

我不是因你的祭物責備你，你的燔祭一直在我面前。

撒母耳取來一隻吃奶的羊羔，作為全牲燔祭獻給耶和華。然後撒母耳為以色列呼求耶和華，耶和華就回應他。

亞伯拉罕舉目觀看，看哪，身後有一隻公綿羊，犄角被灌木叢纏住了！亞伯拉罕就走過去，取了那隻公綿羊，代替自己的兒子獻為燔祭。

如今我一切都得到了，並且豐足有餘。我已經得以滿足了，因為我從以帕弗迪托接受了來自你們的東西；那是馨香的氣味，是神所悅納、所喜悅的祭物。
