耶和华闻了那馨香之气，耶和华心里说：“我不再因人的缘故诅咒土地，因为人从幼年就心里怀着恶念；我也不再照我曾做的毁灭一切生物了。

以撒对他父亲亚伯拉罕说：“我父啊！”亚伯拉罕说：“我儿，我在这里。”以撒说：“看哪，火与柴都有了，但燔祭的羔羊在哪里呢？”

所罗门王到基遍，在那里献祭，因为基遍有极大的丘坛。所罗门在那坛上献了一千祭牲为燔祭。

有火从耶和华面前出来，焚烧了坛上的燔祭和脂肪；全体百姓一看见，就都欢呼，脸伏于地。

于是，耶和华降下火来，烧尽燔祭、木柴、石头、尘土，又烧干了沟里的水。

并且尽心、尽智、尽力爱他，又爱邻如己，要比一切燔祭和祭祀好得多。”

要凭爱心行事，正如基督爱我们，为我们舍了自己，当作馨香的供物和祭物献给神。

耶和华说：“你们许多的祭物于我何益呢？公绵羊的燔祭和肥畜的油脂，我已经腻烦了；公牛、羔羊、公山羊的血，我都不喜悦。

神说：“你要带你的儿子，就是你所爱的独子以撒，往摩利亚地去，在我指示你的一座山上，把他献为燔祭。”

燔祭和赎罪祭是你不喜欢的。那时我说：看哪！我来了，我的事在经卷上已经记载了；神啊！我来为要照你的旨意行。”以上说：“祭物和礼物，以及燔祭和赎罪祭，不是你所要的，也不是你喜欢的。”这都是按着律法献的。他接着说：“看哪！我来了，为要照你的旨意行。”可见他除去在先的，为要立定在后的。我们凭着这旨意，藉着耶稣基督，仅只一次献上他的身体就得以成圣。

我并不因你的祭物责备你；你的燔祭常在我面前。

撒母耳就把一只吃奶的羔羊献给耶和华作全牲的燔祭，为以色列人呼求耶和华，耶和华就应允他。

从示巴来的乳香，从远方出的香菖蒲，奉来给我有何用呢？你们的燔祭不蒙悦纳；你们的祭物，我也不喜悦。”

但我已经如数收到，并且有余；我已经充足，因我从以巴弗提受了你们的馈赠，当作极美的香气，为神所接纳、所喜悦的祭物。

他要拿着鸟的两个翅膀，把鸟撕开，却不可撕断；祭司要把它摆在坛上烧着火的柴上焚烧。这是燔祭，是献给耶和华为馨香的火祭。”
