管会堂的因为耶稣在安息日治病，就气忿忿地对众人说：“有六日应当做工；那六日之内可以来求医，在安息日却不可。”主说：“假冒为善的人哪，难道你们各人在安息日不解开槽上的牛、驴，牵去饮吗？

以色列人在旷野的时候，遇见一个人在安息日捡柴。遇见他捡柴的人，就把他带到摩西、亚伦并全会众那里，将他收在监内；因为当怎样办他，还没有指明。耶和华吩咐摩西说：“总要把那人治死；全会众要在营外用石头把他打死。”于是全会众将他带到营外，用石头打死他，是照耶和华所吩咐摩西的。

六日要劳碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和华你神当守的安息日。这一日你和你的儿女、仆婢、牲畜，并你城里寄居的客旅，无论何工都不可做；

“你要吩咐以色列人说：‘你们务要守我的安息日；因为这是你我之间世世代代的证据，使你们知道我耶和华是叫你们成为圣的。所以你们要守安息日，以为圣日。凡干犯这日的，必要把他治死；凡在这日做工的，必从民中剪除。六日要做工，但第七日是安息圣日，是向耶和华守为圣的。凡在安息日做工的，必要把他治死。’故此，以色列人要世世代代守安息日为永远的约。

“六日你要做工，第七日要安息，使牛、驴可以歇息，并使你婢女的儿子和寄居的都可以舒畅。

人干犯摩西的律法，凭两三个见证人，尚且不得怜恤而死，何况人践踏神的儿子，将那使他成圣之约的血当作平常，又亵慢施恩的圣灵，你们想，他要受的刑罚该怎样加重呢！

所以犹太人逼迫耶稣，因为他在安息日做了这事。

那藉着天使所传的话既是确定的；凡干犯悖逆的都受了该受的报应。我们若忽略这么大的救恩，怎能逃罪呢？这救恩起先是主亲自讲的，后来是听见的人给我们证实了。

“‘当照耶和华你神所吩咐的守安息日为圣日。六日要劳碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和华你神当守的安息日。这一日，你和你的儿女、仆婢、牛、驴、牲畜，并在你城里寄居的客旅，无论何工都不可做，使你的仆婢可以和你一样安息。你也要记念你在埃及地作过奴仆；耶和华你神用大能的手和伸出来的膀臂将你从那里领出来。因此，耶和华你的神吩咐你守安息日。
