是但支派一個婦人的兒子，父親是推羅人。他善用金、銀、銅、鐵、石、木，和紫色、藍色、細麻和朱紅色線製造各物，並精於雕刻，又能設計各樣交給他做的圖案。我派這人與你的巧匠和你父親－我主大衛的巧匠一同做工。

各樣美善的恩澤和各樣完美的賞賜都是從上頭來的，從眾光之父那裏降下來的；在他並沒有改變，也沒有轉動的影兒。

耶和華的靈必住在他身上，就是智慧和聰明的靈，謀略和能力的靈，知識和敬畏耶和華的靈。他必以敬畏耶和華為樂；行審判不憑眼見，斷是非也不憑耳聞；卻要以公義審判貧寒人，以正直判斷地上的困苦人，以口中的棍擊打全地，以嘴裏的氣殺戮惡人。公義必當他的腰帶，信實必作他脅下的帶子。

在他裏面蘊藏着一切智慧和知識。

恩賜有許多種，卻是同一位聖靈所賜。事奉有許多種，卻是事奉同一位主。工作有許多種，卻是同一位神在萬人中運行萬事。聖靈彰顯在各人身上，是要使人得益處。有人藉着聖靈領受智慧的言語；有人也靠着同一位聖靈領受知識的言語；又有人由同一位聖靈領受信心；還有人由同一位聖靈領受醫病的恩賜；又有人能行異能，又有人能作先知，又有人能辨別諸靈，又有人能說方言，又有人能翻方言。

主耶和華的靈在我身上，因為耶和華用膏膏我，叫我報好信息給貧窮的人，差遣我醫好傷心的人，報告被擄的得釋放，被捆綁的得自由；宣告耶和華的恩年和我們的神報仇的日子；安慰所有悲哀的人，為錫安悲哀的人，賜華冠代替灰燼，喜樂的油代替悲哀，讚美為衣代替憂傷的靈；稱他們為「公義樹」，是耶和華所栽植的，為要彰顯他的榮耀。

他的神教導他，指導他合宜的方法。
