凡大祭司從人中間選取了出來、而被設立、替人辦理關於上帝的事，要替罪供獻禮物和祭物，都能體諒愚蒙而失迷的人，因為他自己也掛着軟弱。因這緣故，他怎樣為人民為罪獻祭，也應該怎樣為自己獻祭。這尊榮、沒有人能自取，乃是蒙上帝召者所受的，像亞倫一樣。照樣，基督受職為大祭司、也沒有榮耀自己，乃是向他宣說者榮耀他，說：『你是我的兒子，我今日生了你』。就是在別處、上帝也這樣說：『你永遠做祭司，照麥基洗德的等次』。基督在他肉身的日子、既用壯烈的哭號和眼淚、向那能救他脫死的獻祈求和懇請，就因了虔敬而蒙垂聽；雖是兒子，還因所受的苦而學了聽從；既成了完全勝任的，便對一切聽從他的人成了永世拯救的本原，蒙上帝稱呼為大祭司，照麥基洗德的等次。論到這一點，我們有許多話要說、是難以解明的；因為你們已是聽覺遲鈍了。以時間論，你們本該做教師了，如今竟再需要人將上帝神諭開端之要綱教給你們，而你們卻成了需要奶子而不能喫硬食物的了！凡只能用奶子的、對正義之道都沒有經驗，因為還是嬰孩。惟獨完全長大的人才能喫硬食物：他們的官能已因習用而充分操練、能夠辨別好歹了。

因為有作見證的說：『你永遠做祭司，照麥基洗德的等次』。這一來，一方面因規條之劣弱和無益，先前的條例就被廢掉（律法是未曾叫甚麼事完全及格的）；另一方面，一個較好的指望也就被引進了來，讓我們可以藉着這個來親近上帝。再者，既然不是沒有起誓的事，（先前的人被立為祭司、原沒有起誓的事；惟獨關於他、卻有起誓的事：乃是藉那對他說話者所起的，說：『主起了誓、決不改變心意；你做祭司、直到永遠』）。既然如此，耶穌就照這分量成為更好之約的中保了。再者，先前的人被立為祭司，是人數眾多，因被死攔阻而不能長期任職；惟獨他、因永遠長存、就有不能讓與人的祭司職分。

論到我們所講的、要點就是：我們有這樣的大祭司，他已在天上皇威之寶座右邊坐着；是聖所、真帳幕、的聖役。這帳幕是主所支，不是人所支的。凡大祭司都是為供獻禮物和祭物而設立的；所以這一位也必須有所供獻。假使他在地上，就不必做祭司，因為已有按律法供獻禮物的祭司了。這些祭司呢、是用天上之事的仿本和影像去行事奉禮的，（正如摩西將要造帳幕時得了神諭說：『上帝說，你要謹慎，作各樣物件、都要按在山上指示你的模樣去作』）。基督呢、其實基督既已得了更優越的領禮拜職分，他就依這量度、做更好之約的中保了；這個約是憑着更好的應許按律法而立的。假使先前的是無可責備，就不必為一個在後的找地位了。因為上帝真地指摘他的子民說：『看吧，日子必到，主說，我必跟以色列家和猶大家立個新的約。不像我在拉着他們的手、領他們出埃及的日子、同他們列祖所立的那種約；因為他們沒有恆守我的約，我也不理他們，主說。因為那些日子以後，主說，我要同以色列家立的就是以下這種約：我要頒賜我的律法在他們心神裏，我要將那些律法寫在他們心上；我要做他們的上帝，他們要做我的子民。

給亞倫和他兒子們束上長腰帶，給他們包上裹頭巾，他們就憑着永遠的條例、得祭司的職任：你要這樣授與聖職給亞倫和他兒子們。

他無父、無母、無族譜；他日子也無始，生命也無終：他被形成為跟上帝的兒子相似，繼續做祭司、永續不斷。

『這一日要給你們做記念日：你們要守為敬拜永恆主的節；要世世代代地守，作為永遠的條例。

卑小的蒙尊優的祝福、是一無可駁的。

你要告訴以色列人說：「這油必須保留給我為聖油、做聖膏抹之用、直到萬代。

人若配合跟這個相似的，或是將這膏油塗在非祭司的平常人身上，這人就必須從他的族人中被剪除。」』
