犹太王希律在位的日子，亚比雅班里有一个祭司，名叫撒迦利亚，他妻子是亚伦的后代，名叫以利沙伯。

亚伦生拿答、亚比户、以利亚撒、以他玛。拿答和亚比户在耶和华面前献凡火的时候，死了。

亚伦的儿子拿答和亚比户各拿着自己的香炉，盛上火，加上香，在耶和华面前献上平常的火，是耶和华没有命令他们献的。那时有火从耶和华面前出来，把他们烧灭，他们就死在耶和华面前。
