So Nebuchadnezzar will build ramps against the walls of Jerusalem. He will set up war machines to destroy many lives. Pharaoh will not be able to help Zedekiah during the war. The huge and mighty army of Egypt will not be of any help.

“耶和华以色列的神这样说：你们要对差派你们来求问我的犹大王这样说：‘看哪！那出来帮助你们的法老的军队，必回到他们的埃及本地去。

埃及所有的居民就都知道我是耶和华。因为你作了以色列家芦苇的杖。他们用手抓住你的时候，你就断裂，伤了他们的肩头；他们倚靠你，你就折断、扭伤了他们的腰。

看哪！你所倚靠的埃及，是那压伤的芦苇杖；人若倚靠它，它就会插进他的手，把手刺透。埃及王法老对所有倚靠他的人，也是这样。

然后安放围城设施，建造围城高墙，筑起攻城土垒，摆列兵营，四周架起攻城锤。

法老的军队已经从埃及出来；那些围困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人听见了他们的风声，就从耶路撒冷撤退了。

我们徒然等待帮助，等到双目失去视力；我们在瞭望台上期望一个不能拯救我们的国家来临。

西底家作王第九年十月十日，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领他的全军来攻打耶路撒冷；他们在城外安营，又在四周筑垒攻城。

‘这城的居民出去和迦勒底人争战，就必使这些房屋充满死尸，就是我在怒气和烈怒中击杀的。因为他们的一切恶行，我掩面不顾这城。
