Utter a parable to the rebellious house, and tell them,‘ The Lord Yahweh says,“ Put the cauldron on the fire. Put it on, and also pour water into it.

當為悖逆之家設譬曰、主耶和華云、置鼎於火、傾水於中、

當罕譬而喻、以示違逆之家、曰、主耶和華曰、置鼎於火、盛之於水、

當為此悖逆之族設譬喻、告之曰、主天主如是云、當置釜於火、置而傾水其中、

Tell this rebellious people a parable and say to them:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ Put on the cooking pot; put it on and pour water into it.

Your people refuse to obey me. So tell them a story. Say to them,‘ The Lord and King told me,“‘ “Put a cooking pot on the fire. Pour water into it.

And utter a parable to the rebellious house and say to them, Thus says the Lord God:“ Set on the pot, set it on; pour in water also;

Then give these rebels an illustration with this message from the Sovereign Lord:“ Put a pot on the fire, and pour in some water.

Now speak a parable to the rebellious house. Tell them,‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: Put the pot on the fire— put it on, and then pour water into it!

Present a parable to the rebellious house and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Put on the pot, put it on and also pour water into it;

And utter a parable to the rebellious house, and say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Put on a pot, set it on, And also pour water into it.

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Set on the caldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:

Now speak a parable to the rebellious house. Tell them: This is what the Lord God says: Put the pot on the fire— put it on, and then pour water into it!

And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set[ it] on, and also pour water into it:

Recite a proverb to this rebellious house and say to them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says:“‘ Set on the pot, set it on, pour water in it too;

“ Son of man, tell a riddle, and speak a parable to the house of Israel;

Then I said,“ Ah Lord Yahweh! They say of me,‘ Isn’t he a speaker of parables?’”

who say,‘ The time is not near to build houses. This is the cauldron, and we are the meat.’

You, son of man, don’t be afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions. Don’t be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

Hear, heavens, and listen, earth; for Yahweh has spoken:“ I have nourished and brought up children and they have rebelled against me.

He said to me,“ Son of man, I send you to the children of Israel, to a nation of rebels who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me even to this very day.

“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Woe to the bloody city, to the cauldron whose rust is in it, and whose rust hasn’t gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece. No lot is fallen on it.

I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,

“ Woe to the rebellious children”, says Yahweh,“ who take counsel, but not from me; and who make an alliance, but not with my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,

But you, son of man, hear what I tell you. Don’t be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth, and eat that which I give you.”

For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear Yahweh’s law;

“ Say now to the rebellious house,‘ Don’t you know what these things mean?’ Tell them,‘ Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took its king, and its princes, and brought them to him to Babylon.

He said,“ To you it is given to know the mysteries of God’s Kingdom, but to the rest in parables; that‘ seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’

Yahweh’s word came to me the second time, saying,“ What do you see?” I said,“ I see a boiling cauldron; and it is tipping away from the north.”

“ You stiff- necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do.

and say,‘ What was your mother? A lioness. She couched among lions, in the middle of the young lions she nourished her cubs.She brought up one of her cubs. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.The nations also heard of him. He was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt.“‘ Now when she saw that she had waited, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion.He went up and down among the lions. He became a young lion. He learned to catch the prey. He devoured men.He knew their palaces, and laid waste their cities. The land was desolate, with its fullness, because of the noise of his roaring.Then the nations attacked him on every side from the provinces. They spread their net over him. He was taken in their pit.They put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into strongholds, so that his voice should no more be heard on the mountains of Israel.“‘ Your mother was like a vine in your blood, planted by the waters. It was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.It had strong branches for the scepters of those who ruled. Their stature was exalted among the thick boughs. They were seen in their height with the multitude of their branches.But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.Now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty land.Fire has gone out of its branches. It has devoured its fruit, so that there is in it no strong branch to be a scepter to rule.’ This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”

This will not be your cauldron, neither will you be the meat in the middle of it. I will judge you in the border of Israel.

For I am Yahweh. I will speak, and the word that I speak will be performed. It will be no more deferred; for in your days, rebellious house, I will speak the word, and will perform it,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

They tried to seize him, but they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spoke the parable against them. They left him, and went away.

“ Son of man, you dwell in the middle of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see, and don’t see, who have ears to hear, and don’t hear; for they are a rebellious house.

In that day they will take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, saying,‘ We are utterly ruined! My people’s possession is divided up. Indeed he takes it from me and assigns our fields to traitors!’”

I have made your forehead as a diamond, harder than flint. Don’t be afraid of them, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.”

“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Your slain whom you have laid in the middle of it, they are the meat, and this is the cauldron; but you will be brought out of the middle of it.

But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. Therefore he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them.

Because of Yahweh’s wrath she won’t be inhabited, but she will be wholly desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.Set yourselves in array against Babylon all around, all you who bend the bow; shoot at her. Spare no arrows; for she has sinned against Yahweh.
