但他卻背叛了巴王，反而差遣使者往埃及去，要他們給他馬匹和許多兵丁。他哪能順利成功呢？行這樣事的人哪能逃脫呢？違反了盟約哪能逃脫呢？主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓：巴王立他做王，他竟藐視了發咒起誓的話，違反了巴王跟他所立的約；因此他一定必死在巴比倫、巴王住的地方。敵人倒土堆築了壘要剪滅許多人時，法老雖領了大軍隊大羣眾人也不能在戰陣上跟他周旋呀。

患難時倚靠背信的人、就像倚靠壞牙齒和搖搖顫的腳。

避難於永恆主裏面的比倚靠人好。避難於永恆主裏面的比倚靠王子好。

不要倚靠王子，不要依靠世人，他一點也不能救助。他氣一斷，就回歸塵土；他所打算的、當天就消滅。

法老的軍隊已經從埃及出來；那圍困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人聽見了這風聲，就拔營離開耶路撒冷而去。那時永恆主的話傳與神言人耶利米說：『永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：猶大王打發了你們來求問我，你們要對他這麼說：「看吧，法老的軍隊、那出來幫助你們的，必回埃及它本地去。迦勒底人必再來攻擊這城；將城攻取，放火焚燒。永恆主這麼說：你們不要自己欺騙自己說：『迦勒底人一定會離開我們』；他們是不離開的。就使你們擊敗了那攻擊你們的迦勒底人全軍，其中只剩下一些被刺重傷的人，他們也會各從自己的帳棚裏起來，放火焚燒這城的。」』迦勒底人軍隊因怕法老軍隊，而拔營離開耶路撒冷的時候，

永恆主這麼說：『那倚靠世人、以人的血肉為自己的膀臂、其心卻轉離永恆主的、那種人該受咒詛。他正像原野上的杜松，福樂來到，他也看不見，他卻要住在曠野焦乾之處，無人居住之鹹地。

你看，你依靠這壓傷的蘆葦扶杖，依靠埃及；人若依賴它，這東西就刺進他手掌，把他刺透。埃及王法老對一切倚靠他的人就是這樣。
