那麼你就看吧，我跟你為敵，跟你的河為敵；我必使埃及地、從密奪到色弗尼、直到古實邊界、全然荒廢淒涼。必沒有人的腳從那裏經過，也沒有獸的蹄從那裏過去；並沒有人居住、四十年。我必使埃及地在荒涼的列邦中成為荒涼，使埃及城在荒廢的城市中變成了荒涼、四十年；我必使埃及人分散在於列國，使他們四散於列邦。

先狂傲、然後遭破毁；先有高傲之氣、然後就跌倒。

人先心驕傲，然後遭破毁；要得尊榮、先要謙卑。

人的驕傲必使他降為卑微；心裏謙卑的、必獲得尊榮。

『主永恆主這麼說：我必毁滅偶像，必從挪弗使佛相滅絕：必不再有人君出自埃及地；我必將懼怕放於埃及地境內。我必使巴忒羅荒涼，使火在瑣安中着起，我必向挪施判罰。我必將我的烈怒傾倒於訓上、於埃及的保障上，將挪的眾民都剪除掉。我必使火在埃及境內着起；訓必翻騰絞痛；挪必定被攻破；其城牆必破毁。安和比伯實的壯丁必倒斃於刀下；它們的婦人必被擄掠。我在答比匿折斷了埃及的諸軛，使她勢力所驕矜的止息於其中；那時日光在答比匿必變為黑暗；這城必有密雲遮蔽她，她的人民呢、必被擄去。我必這樣向埃及施判罰，他們就知道我乃是永恆主。』

埃及在荒涼的列邦中必成為荒涼；埃及城在荒廢的城市中必變成了荒廢。我使火在埃及中着起，幫助她的都破滅；那時他們就知道我乃是永恆主。

對他們說：「萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：看吧，我必差遣人去領我僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒來，在你所埋藏的這些石頭上安設他的寶座，將閃耀的華蓋支搭在上頭。他必來攻擊埃及地：那該遭疫癘的就遭疫癘，該被擄的就被擄，該被刀殺的就被刀殺。他必在埃及神的廟中使火着起來，將它們燒掉或擄去；他必囊括埃及地，好像牧人披上衣服，從那裏安然出來。他必打碎埃及地太陽廟的柱像，放火焚燒埃及神的廟。」』
