既在偶像前、為民供役、為以色列家之窒礙、陷之於罪、故我舉手而言、彼必負其罪、主耶和華言之矣、

既崇事偶像、誘以色列族陷於愆尤、故我耶和華指己而誓、必加以罪、

主天主曰、利未人、曾於偶像前為民供役事、使以色列族陷於罪愆、故我發誓必罰之、使負罪愆、

But because they served them in the presence of their idols and made the people of Israel fall into sin, therefore I have sworn with uplifted hand that they must bear the consequences of their sin, declares the Sovereign Lord.

Then King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria. He saw an altar in Damascus and sent to Uriah the priest a sketch of the altar, with detailed plans for its construction.So Uriah the priest built an altar in accordance with all the plans that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus and finished it before King Ahaz returned.When the king came back from Damascus and saw the altar, he approached it and presented offerings on it.He offered up his burnt offering and grain offering, poured out his drink offering, and splashed the blood of his fellowship offerings against the altar.As for the bronze altar that stood before the Lord, he brought it from the front of the temple— from between the new altar and the temple of the Lord— and put it on the north side of the new altar.King Ahaz then gave these orders to Uriah the priest:“ On the large new altar, offer the morning burnt offering and the evening grain offering, the king’s burnt offering and his grain offering, and the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their grain offering and their drink offering. Splash against this altar the blood of all the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar for seeking guidance.”And Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had ordered. (niv)

So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness, (niv)

“ Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?Therefore speak to them and tell them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When any of the Israelites set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself in keeping with their great idolatry. I lift my hand to heaven and solemnly swear: As surely as I live forever,when I sharpen my flashing sword and my hand grasps it in judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries and repay those who hate me.I will make my arrows drunk with blood, while my sword devours flesh: the blood of the slain and the captives, the heads of the enemy leaders.” (niv)

Why do you scorn my sacrifice and offering that I prescribed for my dwelling? Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people Israel?’“ Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares:‘ I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares:‘ Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained. (niv)

Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray. (niv)

On that day I swore to them that I would bring them out of Egypt into a land I had searched out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands. (niv)

my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.“ Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. (niv)

When I brought them into the land I had sworn to give them and they saw any high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, made offerings that aroused my anger, presented their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings. (niv)

They are not to come near to serve me as priests or come near any of my holy things or my most holy offerings; they must bear the shame of their detestable practices. (niv)

The Lord has sworn by himself, the Pride of Jacob:“ I will never forget anything they have done. (niv)

“ Hear this, you priests! Pay attention, you Israelites! Listen, royal house! This judgment is against you: You have been a snare at Mizpah, a net spread out on Tabor. (niv)

But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,” says the Lord Almighty.“ So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law.” (niv)
