坚守合乎教义的可靠之道，就能将健全的教导劝勉人，又能驳倒争辩的人。因为也有许多人不受约束，说空话欺哄人，尤其是那些奉割礼的人。这些人的口必须堵住，因为他们贪不义之财，将不该教导的事教导人，败坏人的全家。

主的仆人不可争辩，只要温和待人，善于教导，恒心忍耐，用温柔劝导反对的人。也许神会给他们悔改的心能明白真理，

“万军之耶和华如此说，你要向祭司请教律法，说：‘看哪，若有人用衣服的边兜圣肉，这衣服的边接触了饼，或汤，或酒，或油，或别的食物，这些是否成为圣呢？’”祭司回答说：“不。”哈该又说：“若有人因摸尸体染了不洁净，然后接触任何东西，这东西就变为不洁净吗？”祭司回答说：“必不洁净。”

他们将你的典章教导雅各，将你的律法教导以色列。他们奉上香让你闻，把全牲的燔祭献在你坛上。

当听这话，雅各家的领袖，以色列家的官长啊！你们厌弃公平，在一切事上屈枉正直；以血建立锡安，以罪孽建造耶路撒冷。城里的领袖为贿赂行审判，祭司为酬劳施训诲，先知为银钱行占卜；他们却倚赖耶和华，说：“耶和华不是在我们中间吗？灾祸必不临到我们。”

真实的训诲在他口中，他的嘴唇中没有不义。他以平安和正直与我同行，使许多人回转离开罪孽。祭司的嘴唇当守护知识，人也当从他口中寻求训诲，因为他是万军之耶和华的使者。你们却偏离正道，使许多人在这训诲上绊跌。你们破坏了我与利未人所立的约。这是万军之耶和华说的。所以我使你们被众百姓藐视，看为卑贱；因你们不遵守我的道，在律法上看人的情面。”
