“ Here is the list of the tribes of Israel and the territory each is to receive. The territory of Dan is in the extreme north. Its boundary line follows the Hethlon road to Lebo hamath and then runs on to Hazar enan on the border of Damascus, with Hamath to the north. Dan’s territory extends all the way across the land of Israel from east to west.

“ Now these are the names of the tribes: From the northern end, along the road of Hethlon, to Lebo-hamath as far as Hazar-enon, at the northern border of Damascus, alongside Hamath and extending from the eastern side to the sea, will be Dan— one portion.

我聽見以色列人各支派中受印的數目有十四萬四千；猶大支派中受印的有一萬二千；呂便支派中有一萬二千；迦得支派中有一萬二千；亞設支派中有一萬二千；拿弗他利支派中有一萬二千；瑪拿西支派中有一萬二千；西緬支派中有一萬二千；利未支派中有一萬二千；以薩迦支派中有一萬二千；西布倫支派中有一萬二千；約瑟支派中有一萬二千；便雅憫支派中受印的有一萬二千。

難道我的東西不可隨我的意思用嗎？因為我作好人，你就眼紅了嗎？』這樣，那在後的，將要在前；在前的，將要在後了。」

以色列的眾兒子各帶着家眷，和雅各一同來到埃及，他們的名字如下：呂便、西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫、便雅憫、但、拿弗他利、迦得、亞設。凡從雅各生的，共有七十人。那時，約瑟已經在埃及。

「你們北邊的地界要從大海開始劃界，直到何珥山，從何珥山劃到哈馬口，直通到西達達，又通到西斐崙，直達哈薩‧以難。這就是你們北邊的地界。

這是幫助你們的人的名字：屬呂便的，示丟珥的兒子以利蓿；屬西緬的，蘇利沙代的兒子示路蔑；屬猶大的，亞米拿達的兒子拿順；屬以薩迦的，蘇押的兒子拿坦業；屬西布倫的，希倫的兒子以利押；約瑟子孫、屬以法蓮的，亞米忽的兒子以利沙瑪；屬瑪拿西的，比大蓿的兒子迦瑪列；屬便雅憫的，基多尼的兒子亞比但；屬但的，亞米沙代的兒子亞希以謝；屬亞設的，俄蘭的兒子帕結；屬迦得的，丟珥的兒子以利雅薩；屬拿弗他利的，以南的兒子亞希拉。」

但人仍走他們的路。米迦見他們的勢力比自己強，就轉身回家去了。但人把米迦造的神像和他的祭司帶走，來到拉億安寧無慮的百姓那裏，用刀殺了他們，放火燒了那城。沒有人來搭救，因為這城離西頓很遠，他們又與世無爭；這城在靠近伯‧利合的平原。但人建造這城，在那裏居住，並照着他們祖先以色列之子但的名字，給這城起名叫但。原先這城名叫拉億。

耶羅波安王就籌劃，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，對眾百姓說：「你們上耶路撒冷去實在夠久了。以色列啊，看哪，這是領你出埃及地的神明。」他把一個安置在伯特利，另一個安置在但。

「西界就是大海，從南界直到哈馬口對面。這是西界。

大衛對跟隨他的約押元帥說：「你來回走遍以色列眾支派，從但直到別是巴，數點百姓，我好知道百姓的數目。」

拉結說：「看哪，我的使女辟拉在這裏，你可以與她同房，使她生子歸在我膝下，我也可以藉着她得孩子。」拉結就把她的婢女辟拉給丈夫為妾，雅各與她同房。辟拉懷孕，為雅各生了一個兒子。拉結給他起名叫但，說：「神為我伸冤，也聽了我的聲音，賜給我一個兒子。」

這是他們的名字：屬呂便支派的，撒刻的兒子沙母亞。屬西緬支派的，何利的兒子沙法。屬猶大支派的，耶孚尼的兒子迦勒。屬以薩迦支派的，約色的兒子以迦。屬以法蓮支派的，嫩的兒子何西阿。屬便雅憫支派的，拉孚的兒子帕提。屬西布倫支派的，梭底的兒子迦疊。屬約瑟支派，就是瑪拿西支派的，穌西的兒子迦底。屬但支派的，基瑪利的兒子亞米利。屬亞設支派的，米迦勒的兒子西帖。屬拿弗他利支派的，縛西的兒子拿比。屬迦得支派的，瑪基的兒子臼利。
