In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:

It was the first year of the rule of Cyrus. He was king of Persia. The Lord inspired him to send a message all through his kingdom. It happened so that what the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah would come true. The message was written down. It said,

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD roused the spirit of King Cyrus to issue a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom and to put it in writing:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the LORD’S message spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD stirred the mind of King Cyrus of Persia. He disseminated a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom, announcing in a written edict the following:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that Yahweh’s word by Jeremiah’s mouth might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

波斯王居鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验藉耶利米口所说的话，就激动波斯王居鲁士的心，使他下诏通告全国，说：“波斯王居鲁士如此说：耶和华天上的神已将天下万国赐给我，又嘱咐我在犹大的耶路撒冷为他建造殿宇。你们中间凡作他子民的，可以上去，愿耶和华他的神与他同在。”

“耶和华如此说：为巴比伦所定的七十年满了以后，我要眷顾你们，向你们成就我的恩言，使你们仍回此地。

他也使他们在凡掳掠他们的人面前蒙怜恤。

王的心在耶和华手中，好像陇沟的水随意流转。

七十年满了以后，我必刑罚巴比伦王和那国民，并迦勒底人之地，因他们的罪孽使那地永远荒凉。这是耶和华说的。我也必使我向那地所说的话，就是记在这书上的话，是耶利米向这些国民说的预言，都临到那地。因为有多国和大君王必使迦勒底人作奴仆；我也必照他们的行为，按他们手所做的报应他们。”

然而巴比伦王居鲁士元年，他降旨允准建造神的这殿。神殿中的金、银器皿，就是尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷的殿中掠去带到巴比伦庙里的，居鲁士王从巴比伦庙里取出来，交给派为省长的，名叫设巴萨，对他说可以将这些器皿带去，放在耶路撒冷的殿中，在原处建造神的殿。

欢欢喜喜地守除酵节七日；因为耶和华使他们欢喜，又使亚述王的心转向他们，坚固他们的手，作以色列神殿的工程。

我也要使犹大被掳的和以色列被掳的归回，并建立他们和起初一样。我要除净他们的一切罪，就是向我所犯的罪；又要赦免他们的一切罪，就是干犯我、违背我的罪。这城要在地上万国人面前使我得颂赞，得荣耀，名为可喜可乐之城。万国人因听见我向这城所赐的福乐、所施的恩惠平安，就惧怕战兢。”耶和华如此说：“你们论这地方，说是荒废无人民无牲畜之地，但在这荒凉无人民无牲畜的犹大城邑和耶路撒冷的街上，必再听见有欢喜和快乐的声音、新郎和新妇的声音，并听见有人说：‘要称谢万军之耶和华，因耶和华本为善；他的慈爱永远长存！’又有奉感谢祭到耶和华殿中之人的声音；因为我必使这地被掳的人归回，和起初一样。这是耶和华说的。”万军之耶和华如此说：“在这荒废无人民无牲畜之地，并其中所有的城邑，必再有牧人的住处；他们要使羊群躺卧在那里。在山地的城邑、高原的城邑、南地的城邑、便雅悯地、耶路撒冷四围的各处，和犹大的城邑必再有羊群从数点的人手下经过。这是耶和华说的。”

以斯拉说：“耶和华我们列祖的神是应当称颂的！因他使王起这心意修饰耶路撒冷耶和华的殿，

尼布甲尼撒在位第二年，他做了梦，心里烦乱，不能睡觉。

那时，有施洗的约翰出来，在犹太的旷野传道，说：“天国近了，你们应当悔改！”这人就是先知以赛亚所说的。他说：“在旷野有人声喊着说：‘预备主的道，修直他的路！’”

他说：“我就是那在旷野有人声喊着说：‘修直主的道路’，正如先知以赛亚所说的。”
