In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing:

It was the first year of the rule of Cyrus. He was king of Persia. The Lord inspired him to send a message all through his kingdom. It happened so that what the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah would come true. The message was written down. It said,

In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the LORD’S message spoken through Jeremiah, the LORD stirred the mind of King Cyrus of Persia. He disseminated a proclamation throughout his entire kingdom, announcing in a written edict the following:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that Yahweh’s word by Jeremiah’s mouth might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

波斯王居鲁士元年，耶和华为要应验藉耶利米的口所说的话，就激发波斯王居鲁士的心，使他下诏书通告全国，说：“波斯王居鲁士如此说：耶和华—天上的上帝已将地上万国赐给我，又委派我在犹大的耶路撒冷为他建造殿宇。你们中间凡作他子民的可以上去，愿耶和华—他的上帝与他同在。”

“耶和华如此说：为巴比伦所定的七十年满了以后，我要眷顾你们，向你们实现我的恩言，使你们归回此地。

使他们在凡掳掠他们的人面前蒙怜悯。

王的心在耶和华手中像河水，他能使它随意流转。

七十年满了以后，我必惩罚巴比伦王和那国，并迦勒底人之地，因他们的罪孽使那地永远荒凉。这是耶和华说的。我也必使我向那地所说的话，就是所有记在这书上，耶利米向这些国家说的预言，都临到那地。因为必有许多国家和大君王使迦勒底人作奴仆；我也必照他们的行为，按他们手所做的报应他们。”

然而巴比伦王居鲁士元年，他降旨允准建造上帝的这殿。上帝殿中的金银器皿，就是尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷殿中掠取带到巴比伦庙里的，居鲁士王从巴比伦庙里取出来，交给派为省长，名叫设巴萨的，对他说：可以将这些器皿带去，放在耶路撒冷的殿中，在原处建造上帝的殿。

他们欢欢喜喜地守除酵节七日，因为耶和华使他们欢喜。耶和华又使亚述王的心转向他们，坚固他们的手，去做上帝—以色列上帝殿的工。

我也要使犹大被掳的和以色列被掳的人归回，并要建立他们，如起初一样。我要洗净他们干犯我的一切罪，赦免他们干犯我、违背我的一切罪。这城在地上万国面前要因我的缘故，以喜乐得名，得颂赞，得荣耀，因为他们听见我所赏赐的一切福乐。他们因我向这城所施的一切福乐平安，就惧怕战兢。”耶和华如此说：“你们论这地方，说是荒废、无人、无牲畜之地，但在这荒凉、无人、无居民、无牲畜的犹大城镇和耶路撒冷街上，必再听见欢喜和快乐的声音、新郎和新娘的声音，并听见有人说：你们要称谢万军之耶和华，因耶和华本为善，他的慈爱永远长存！他们奉感谢祭到耶和华的殿中；因为我必使这地被掳的人归回，如起初一样。这是耶和华说的。”万军之耶和华如此说：“在这荒废、无人、无牲畜之地，并其中所有的城镇，必再有牧人的草场，可让羊群躺卧在那里。在山区的城镇、谢非拉的城镇、尼革夫的城镇、便雅悯地、耶路撒冷四围的各处和犹大的城镇，必再有羊群从数点的人手下经过。这是耶和华说的。

以斯拉说：“耶和华—我们列祖的上帝是应当称颂的！因他使王起这心愿，使耶路撒冷耶和华的殿得荣耀，

尼布甲尼撒在位第二年，他做了很多梦，心里烦乱，不能睡觉。

在那些日子，施洗的约翰出来，在犹太的旷野宣讲：“你们要悔改！因为天国近了。”这人就是以赛亚先知所说的：“在旷野有声音呼喊着：预备主的道，修直他的路。”

他说：“我就是那在旷野呼喊的声音：修直主的道。”正如以赛亚先知所说的。
