Then Joshua son of Jozadak and his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and his associates began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, in accordance with what is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.

Then Joshua began to build the altar for burnt offerings to honor the God of Israel. Joshua was the son of Jozadak. The other priests helped Joshua. So did Zerubbabel and his men. They built the altar according to what is written in the Law of Moses. Moses was a man of God. Zerubbabel was the son of Shealtiel.

Then arose Jeshua the son of Jozadak, with his fellow priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel with his kinsmen, and they built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Law of Moses the man of God.

Then Jeshua son of Jehozadak joined his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel with his family in rebuilding the altar of the God of Israel. They wanted to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, as instructed in the Law of Moses, the man of God.

So he said to me,“ This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel:‘ Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.“ What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of‘ God bless it! God bless it!’”Then the word of the Lord came to me:“ The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.“ Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?” (niv)

“‘ Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it. (niv)

But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’ (niv)

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. (niv)

The sons of Pedaiah: Zerubbabel and Shimei. The sons of Zerubbabel: Meshullam and Hananiah. Shelomith was their sister. (niv)

“ Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am going to shake the heavens and the earth. (niv)

“‘ Listen, High Priest Joshua, you and your associates seated before you, who are men symbolic of things to come: I am going to bring my servant, the Branch. (niv)

The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and also Mattaniah, who, together with his associates, was in charge of the songs of thanksgiving. (niv)

“ Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people. Ask them,‘ Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing?But now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord.‘ Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord,‘ and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. (niv)

Take the silver and gold and make a crown, and set it on the head of the high priest, Joshua son of Jozadak. (niv)

Say to them:‘ This is the food offering you are to present to the Lord: two lambs a year old without defect, as a regular burnt offering each day.Offer one lamb in the morning and the other at twilight,together with a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil from pressed olives.This is the regular burnt offering instituted at Mount Sinai as a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord.The accompanying drink offering is to be a quarter of a hin of fermented drink with each lamb. Pour out the drink offering to the Lord at the sanctuary.Offer the second lamb at twilight, along with the same kind of grain offering and drink offering that you offer in the morning. This is a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.“‘ On the Sabbath day, make an offering of two lambs a year old without defect, together with its drink offering and a grain offering of two- tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil.This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.“‘ On the first of every month, present to the Lord a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect.With each bull there is to be a grain offering of three- tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil; with the ram, a grain offering of two- tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil;and with each lamb, a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil. This is for a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord.With each bull there is to be a drink offering of half a hin of wine; with the ram, a third of a hin; and with each lamb, a quarter of a hin. This is the monthly burnt offering to be made at each new moon during the year.Besides the regular burnt offering with its drink offering, one male goat is to be presented to the Lord as a sin offering.“‘ On the fourteenth day of the first month the Lord’s Passover is to be held.On the fifteenth day of this month there is to be a festival; for seven days eat bread made without yeast.On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.Present to the Lord a food offering consisting of a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect.With each bull offer a grain offering of three- tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil; with the ram, two- tenths;and with each of the seven lambs, one-tenth.Include one male goat as a sin offering to make atonement for you.Offer these in addition to the regular morning burnt offering.In this way present the food offering every day for seven days as an aroma pleasing to the Lord; it is to be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its drink offering.On the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.“‘ On the day of firstfruits, when you present to the Lord an offering of new grain during the Festival of Weeks, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.Present a burnt offering of two young bulls, one ram and seven male lambs a year old as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.With each bull there is to be a grain offering of three- tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with oil; with the ram, two- tenths;and with each of the seven lambs, one-tenth.Include one male goat to make atonement for you.Offer these together with their drink offerings, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its grain offering. Be sure the animals are without defect. (niv)

“‘ On that day,’ declares the Lord Almighty,‘ I will take you, my servant Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ declares the Lord Almighty.” (niv)

So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God, (niv)

but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved. (niv)

But you are to seek the place the Lord your God will choose from among all your tribes to put his Name there for his dwelling. To that place you must go;there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, what you have vowed to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.There, in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the Lord your God has blessed you. (niv)
